1st championship manager sacking
Stoke have sacked Michael O'Neill.
Re: 1st championship manager sacking
Bit harsh and a bit strange. 4 points from 5 games and not in the relegation zone. Were the owners expecting some sort of miracle and hoping they would be in the Top 2 after 5 games?

Makes no sense to let your manager make 16 signings over the summer then sack him after 5 league games.

It definitely seems a bit early. 4 points from 5 IS a bad start in this league but with such a squad overhaul, you'd think they'd have at least given him a few more games to turn it around.
Who knows, there might be more going on behind closed doors.
Re: 1st championship manager sacking
Have they signed Liam Delap yet?
If not this could be good news for another club who made a pitch for him?
Re: 1st championship manager sacking
They must have Dyche lined up or something.

Some of our fans would have Morison out already too!
Re: 1st championship manager sacking
O’Neill was under pressure going into the season, so, I agree, it’s odd allowing him to make so many signings and then sack him after they’ve made a below par, but hardly disastrous, start to their campaign. It does make you think that someone they want as manager has said he’s willing to take the job.

I’d sacrifice Morison for Dyche.

If they do have Dyche lined up then they'd be fools not to have him. I think our GD is -1 after 5 so far? (we've scored 3 and conceded 4) and one of those 3 was a 'pass' :hehe:

Yes, I'm really surprised he went there as the writing has been on the wall for O'Neill for a while now

Yes, on a season long loan.

Sunderland boss Alex Neil has held talks with fellow Championship side Stoke City over their vacant managerial position.

It’s a strange one, I would have thought Sunderland are in a better place financially than Stoke now.
