Ticket office £60 phone bill
Not too happy when receiving my phone bill yesterday
Was late ordering my ticket for Brighton (yes I know bloody fog) so couldn't order on line and instructed to phone ticket office. Two days of trying and being held in a queue etc... no avail - in fact Bluetit got ticket for me .... thank you
I was later informed that the phone lines were down at the club for the two days 27th 28th December and to cap it all got a £60 phone bill. It's not the money but a bit of principle here it doesn't seem fair or is this just s frustrated me?
Who can I direct this query to at the club ?
Thanks

Not sure the club can be held responsible for your phone bill.
The ticket office number is 0845, from a landline that will cost at most 18p a minute. From a mobile it can cost 51p a minute.

Surely it's the clubs decision to have an 0845 number to buy tickets from, there's no need for it. No reason it can't have an 029 or 03 number without profiteering from people trying to actually give them money!
I unfortunately have to occasionally phone these (and even worse, 09 numbers) from my mobile for work and they are extortionate.

I'd be gutted if i was charged £60 but surely people check the number/code etc before actually dialling?

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
If this situation ever arises again, phone or text me on 07976574343 and I will endeavour to pick your tickets up myself.
I will bring this point (phone costs) up at the next Fans meeting.

True but if that's the number you need to phone to buy a ticket what option have you got?
I'm assuming there's no alternative landline number he could use. I've got 02920 643640 in my phone but I rarely try it as I use online ticketing or pop to the office.

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
Thanks all I was well aware it was a premium number my point is more around the club or phone line nor saying there was a problem and I was never going to get through on those two days. I found out on twitter there was a problem with the phone lines the next day.
Thanks Bluetit much appreciated

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
I been stung for about £9 before by being on hold at the ticket office.
At no point do they tell you that you are being charged for the call and at what rate. It's also cheeky that they have a bit of a ramble at the start because that means that you are on the clock immediately and paying to hear some bullshit and then get put on hold.
Fair enough that it's a chargeable call, I don't have a problem with that but it should be charged from when they pick up the phone and start talking to to you.

Well said Mike, for me because the club does shit like this I spend **** all in their shop and I certainly don't buy what's on offer on match days so they lose out...I got stung on the phones during the Carling cup.

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
I rang today to buy an additonal ticket for tomorrow.
They said there was no space near our normal 2 seats (there is usually loads) so they'd have to move us. I said that is fine. Then they said they need confirmation from both season ticket holders to move. It is my father ffs, and I've got his details. He isn't here to call them.
Oh well, 1 less person in the ground tomorrow.
Got me wondering how well tomorrow will be attended though. The space around us hasn't been full for at any point during the season.

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
£60 is that for your whole bill? seriously I have plusnet/bt with unlimited calls £5.50 per month
0345, 0845, 0870, 01, 02, 03 are all included, also bt includes evenings and week end, for free and it means that if during the day you phone 0845, it is 11p per minute, but if you are silly enough to phone from your mobile, then you are being dull, also, if you phoning an 09 number that is a premium number for porn and other nefarious services, I have yet to come across any proper business that uses that number, this 09 number is charged at £3.71 per minute, surely you cannot be that naive?
PS.
You should try using "Say no to 0870" which gives you and alternative number

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
No the £60 was just ticket office calls and it was from my mobile I knew it was a premium number although there was no warning of that.
It really isn't the money yes it's a lot but it was my only option to get a Brighton ticket. What really got me was the phone line at the ticket office was down and not working so I was never going to get through, but I was still put in a virtual queue.

Re: Ticket office £60 phone bill
Then why use a mobile? by the way the ticket office number 0845 is not a premium number it is just a non geographical one, but 09 0844 0843 0871 0872 0873 are, and by the way the 09 number is reserved for adult phone lines, so why you are phoning them for business I do not know, oh wait I think I do.:hehe:

This just highlights how people get ripped off. So 0845 is not a premium number but 0844 and 0843 are.
Thats a stealth way of catching people out. As I mention earlier in the thread the phone at CCS Ticket Office is answered immediately with a pre recorded message that starts charging the caller as soon as they connect. Now you are a sitting duck. They broadcast some bullshit (that you are paying to hear) then put you on hold for potentially minutes and minutes and minutes. Sometime 30 mins or more. So you could be £5 or £6 in the hole before they answer.
All this without them outlining the potential costs of the call.
