Who remembers going down the City
And the only way you could find out the latest scores from other games was to wait for the PA to read them out at half time and full time? Lol!!

I would often have to buy the football echo to find out how my bets had done.

Re: Who remembers going down the City
Remember one season down the City and the only song they played on the PA was Billy Paul’s “Let em in” it’s now being used on the post code lottery advert. Took me right back when I heard it!!

Or stand near someone with a transistor radio. There was always one.

Tina Charles "I love to love" is the one I remember. Seemed to be the only record they had.

In the 69/70 season the only songs they played on the PA were Freda Payne's Band of gold and the Beatles The long and winding road. Every time I hear those songs it takes me back to that era, happy days.

Re: Who remembers going down the City
To me it seemed they always played Desmond Decker's The Israelites.

Yes, that was about 8yrs ago until the CCS.
I suspect older fans will remember the letters and the HT scores on the front of the Bob bank..

Pah!!
We had to buy a program to find out which matches the HT scores were for.
Scores were 'number cards' placed alongside a letter card, see.

Re: Who remembers going down the City
Who remembers waiting for the video printer to reveal how City had done at an away game? It went something like Birmingham City 1 Cardiff City stutter, beep, stutter, beep nil. You just bloody knew it.

Used to watch them after the game on the tellys in Radiocraft's window, waiting for the Ely bus.
