Italy...including Lucca/Barga to see where my gggrandfather came from. Plus some walking in the lakes, Como and Maggiore.
Normandy...DDay beaches walking tour. Will finally get to see where a guy I knew in my youth came ashore. He was 1st Dorsets, lived up Rhiwbina Hill. One of the first ashore. 3 left alive at the end of June 6th from 30 on his landing craft as he recalled it.
Menorca/Mallorca two centre for some walking. Nothing booked yet but looking at end of August/start of September.
Re: Summer Holiday Thread
Now you're talking.
Cliff was superb in it.

Re: Summer Holiday Thread
Mid April for 3 weeks walking our last section of the SW Coastal Path (Plymouth to Poole - 210 miles): B&Bs with two 'rest days', one in Lyme Regis fossil hunting.
September in mainland Greece for the first time. Hotels and a bit pricey!

I envy you, having it almost on your doorstep.
Funnily enough, I recently happened to come across images of Tenby on the Internet, truly beautiful place!
I haven't been there for about 25 years, I would imagine it's hardly changed much?
Would love to visit there again in the not too distant future.

As you may be aware, I'm doing the SWCP but in smaller chunks and won't finish it until next year (and I'm not looking forward to completing it). My next stretches are Plymouth eastwards too. Give me a shout if you want the benefit of some local knowledge when you are in SE Devon.
Re: Summer Holiday Thread
Saundersfoot, lovely 4 bed house including hot tub and 1 dog allowed….whenever guests aren’t using it.
Feel free to message for details ;0)

Stayed in Lucca for a few week some time back, lovely place and area.
Love Menorca, beautiful place, especially September (still be hot but not as busy), sister-in-law lives there, visit often.
Mallorca 10 days mid-july. 300 euro for 4, house swap no accommodation fees. Staying in Binissalem (wine region)
Teixeira (Seia) Portugal. A week, family holiday/reunion. Not paying accommodation either, just flight and car hire (which is proving extremely expensive lol).

Fossil hunting in Lyme Regis? Dirty bugger.
Re: Summer Holiday Thread
Original poster might want to invest in a better car than spending his wedge on dogging expeditions to Tenerife next month and Tenby during the summer.
His crappy Astra shakes, coughs, splutters and backfires its way to Cardiff and back while he grips the steering wheel for dear life.
He and that shed is a menace to other road users.

Thanks.
We did Bude to Penzance in 2019; Penzance to Plymouth in 2021 and Minehead to Bude in 2022. This will be the longest segment.
The SW Coastal Path is usually described as 630 miles - but we have already done about 20 miles more than the official distance because of high tide detours, MOD live firing detours, and storm damage (fallen trees blocking path) detours.
But we are not doing The Salt Path - more The Comfort Path with B&Bs/hotels all booked in advance, and daily luggage transfers for the cases. Hopefully not too much rain.

What happened to a backpack and off you go?
"Daily luggage transfers" sounds so middle class :D
