FT: Cardiff City 3 - 1 Ipswich Town. Match thread
Can goal-shy City find their shooting boots tonight?.

The pair have both been battling ankle problems but are being readied to return.

The pair have both been battling ankle problems but are being readied to return. Joe Bennett limped out of Saturday's draw against Millwall and Callum Paterson could make his full debut after stepping off the bench to replace him. Lee Tomlin is pushing for a first league start since August 15, but Jazz Richards (ankle) and Lee Camp (thigh) remain sidelined.

Ipswich will again be without midfielder Tom Adeyemi, who has a hamstring problem. Fellow former Bluebird Emyr Huws is stepping up his recovery from an Achilles problem, but will not be back to face the club he left in the summer.

Defender Tommy Smith has recovered from a back problem, so is available with Town boss Mick McCarthy reporting no fresh injury worries following the 2-1 victory at Burton, where Bersant Celina came of the bench to net a late winner. Midfielder Ted Bishop (groin/hernia) and Luke Hyam (knee) continue their recovery, while Andre Dozzell (knee) is a long-term absentee.

Opta stats

Cardiff have won their last three home league games against Ipswich, with two of those wins by a 3-1 score line (October 2014 and March 2017).

The Tractor Boys have only won once in their last eight league matches against the Bluebirds (D3 L4).

This will be the 20th meeting in all competitions between Neil Warnock and Mick McCarthy - there have been seven Warnock wins, two draws, and 10 wins for McCarthy in the previous 19.

Neil Warnock has won his last four home league matches against Ipswich all with different clubs (Crystal Palace, QPR, Leeds and Cardiff).

Ipswich have picked up nine points from losing positions so far this season, all coming away from home - no other Championship side has recovered more points from behind.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Always liked the look of Ademyi , shame it didn’t work out for whatever reason.
As for Huws , he looks doomed for a career blighted with injury.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Ken and Gunnar back. I'm confident. 3-1 city.
-
Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Etheridge
Pelts
Bamba
Morrison
Patterson
Ralls
Damour
Gunnar
NML
Zohore
Hoilett
2-1
I'd like to see Bamba and Manga given a go.
No doubt we will have 5 at the back again though.
-
Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Think Bamba will be in midfield as Warnock will want to bully a fairly lightweight midfield for Ipswich.
Hope this report us right about Ken and Gunnar. Would make a huge difference to us.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
If it were football manager I'd go 4231 wide and push someone up to support Zohore a little more.
As it's not we'll have to go with the same team as last few games...just don't think it offers much.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
As Bennett is out then 4-4-1-1 maybe
Etheridge
Peltier Bamba Morrison Patterson
NML Ralls Gunner Hoillet
Tomlin
Zohore

Looks to have more goals in that team. Please no 3 center half's again tonight.

Etheridge
Peltier
Manga
Morrison
Patterson
Ralls
Tomlin
Bamba
NML
Bogle
Hoilett.
Not sure If it's 5 at the back or Bamba in the middle.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Bamba at the back and Tomlin in behind I’d say.
-
Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
As i speculated Bamba will play in mf as Ipswich lack height there. Warnock is going to be a bully tonight.
Intersting that Fred on bench. Warnock must like him.

I think NW does, he favoured him initially over Ken before he had no choice but to play him.

Thank god. The lightweight midfield cost us the win against Millwall

Good. An out and out target man and not a terrible player.

Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Apparently, we have 6 players with injury concerns tonight. Think Warnock's hands have been tied a little rather than seeing Bamba as the answer in the middle and Fred as the saviour off the bench.
-
Re: Cardiff City v Ipswich Town. Match thread
Think Bogle got the final touch. No one on the pitch noticed and ran off to celebrate with Hoilett
