FA Cup Final thread. FT: Arsenal 2 - 1 Chelsea
ko 5.30pm
- Seven of the last eight FA Cup ties between these sides have been won by Arsenal.
- Chelsea came out on top in the last meeting – a 2-1 semi-final win in 2009 – but that is their only FA Cup victory against the Gunners in the last 70 years.
- Overall, the sides have been paired together 13 times in this competition, with Arsenal winning eight ties and Chelsea victorious five times.
- In league and cup, Chelsea have won eight of the last 13 encounters (D3, L2).
- This is only the second FA Cup final in 35 years to feature two London clubs – the other was in 2002 when Arsenal beat Chelsea to claim the Double

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Arsenal v Chelsea
Spoiled Arsenal fans still want Arsene out even if he wins a record-breaking 7 FA Cups today. Said a win would be "papering over the cracks".
If a manager leading a team to the FA Cup is 'papering over the cracks' then maybe we should get shot of Warnock after all.

Don't fancy Arsenal today to be honest. I think Chelsea look a far better side. Wenger playing his Cup keeper rather than his best keeper and Mertesacker starting his first game in over a year.
Still, you never know.

Exactly, an Arsenal win today would be practically miraculous but Arsenal fans would still want Wenger out even he managed to pull it off.

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Arsenal v Chelsea
I remember as a kid getting excited about the FA Cup final and going round a mates house to watch it on a B&W tube TV. By half-time, we'd be kicking a ball around in the park.
Today's final, in prospect, feels the same....

Cardiff's 1927 win gets a mention :malky:

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Arsenal v Chelsea
Quite possibly the most impeccable minutes silence ever observed by so many football supporters. We'll done.
Thankfully Leeds or Liverpool not involved today.

1-0 Arsenal. Controversial.
Disallowed then given.

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Latest: Arsenal 1 - 0 Chelsea
Drama with referee over-ruling linesman who disallowed goal

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Arsenal v Chelsea
Even though Ramsey didn't touch the ball he was clearly made an initial move towards it before pulling back to allow the Sanchez to finish.
So does he have to actually touch it to be offside.?

Re: FA Cup Final thread. Latest: Arsenal 1 - 0 Chelsea
Ramsey with a stupid and pointless booking after just 9 mins

Yes but they keep ****ing around with the offside rule so much it will probably be disallowed next year

Glad it was given, the abuse Ramsey would have gotten if it was disallowed would be horrendous

Don't worry, he'll still get the abuse when he gets his second yellow before half time.
