Happy Mondays students Union

Was thinking of going but never got round to it , was in my final year at college in Manchester when they and the stone roses were breaking through , saw both of them live at a venue called the band on the wall
Was it a sell out ?
Behind all the messing about they had a great guitar sound
Kinky afro is spot on
Totally off their heads mind , the story about Tina Weymouth from the talking heads trying to produce their album whilst Shaun Ryder and bez were scoring crack off the locals on that west Indian island is bonkers
Re: Happy Mondays students Union
I went to the Pills, Thrills tour at the SU a while back. Same that time really, great gig but an awful venue. I refused to pay £30+ to go to that shithole again. Glad it went well though.
Re: Happy Mondays students Union
i would have gone, loved the Mondays back in the day
I never get to hear about gigs
Re: Happy Mondays students Union
Our's just have club nights... and I have uni on Tuesday mornings
Re: Happy Mondays students Union
I went. It was bloody brilliant.
Played most of pills, thrills and mixed it in with older stuff aswell such as Hallelujah and 24hour party people.

Fair enough. I think it's shite. Poor sound, claustrophobic towards the back with the low ceiling. I'd go to see someone there if it was reasonably priced. But for £30+ I'd want a decent venue. And for me it isn't.

I have seen loads of bands there over the years , deftones, clutch , queens of the stone age , placebo , killing joke , I like the venue , it's the only decent standing venue of any size in Cardiff , which is shocking really
The coal exchange was good too but that's been lost which is a great shame

Did you ever used to go to Tom Toms before that was another good night. Before the Hippo but after Valentinos and 3 wise men. Back in the day.

It's excellent. Good size, great views all around, the best security staff anywhere.

What a laugh.. up the wenallt after to begin with. I used to go all the travellers after that. Negotiating country lanes in the south west or milling around in 7 bridge services whilst someone uses a massive mobile phone to find out where we off next. Was different and a special time.

We need something twice the size of that in Cardiff, it only fits 1000
Which is nice and intimate but we miss out on a lot of bands who don't want to play arena gigs but are too big to play the tramshed
