When will some companies ever learn. Do they not employ any HR specialists who have any knowledge of the law, butt?

"A regional accent is not a protected characteristic, therefore there can be no discrimination claim. However, differences in treatment due to accents based on ethnicity or national origin are discriminatory."
It's a tricky one.
Scouse accent = not discriminatory
Indian accent = discriminatory

What are you quoting?
The lawyer quoted in the article thinks it's definitely discrimination.
What is a 'Welsh' accent or an 'English' accent anyway? There isn't just one. Aren't they just a collection or many many regional accents, so would be discriminatory?
I don't see it as a tricky one at all sorry.

Re: Cardiff woman posts job rejection letter blaming her ‘strong Welsh accent’
might not have even been just due to her accent
“It was decided that your strong Welsh accent, accompanied by your regional activities, would not suit the office environment.”
Eluned Anderson, who is Holocaust UK’s regional ambassador and has been active in the Labour movement,
Eluned Anderson has been active in the Labour party. Last year she criticised Wales’ First Minister, Mark Drakeford for attending an event alongside individuals expelled from the Labour Party.
although part of the deleted job title seemed to be that of a parliamentary assistant.
She had previously worked an internship as a parliamentary assistant.
Maybe they didnt like her Holocaust ambassador role, we can only guess the role was a parliamentary assistant for a Labour MP ( surely she wouldn't want to work for the other lot )
Hmmmmm Labour and the Jewish ? ? ? ? surely not

Least they aren't one of these employers that only employs attractive young women, a look at her twitter in that article would be enough to employ her to a fair few places I've known.

different times back then though
on the plus side, they did have a member of the LGBT community working for them, so maybe they were ground breaking at the time

True, although you were never told he was a member. You had to derive that conclusion from all of the clues given on screen - voice, dress sense (a tied neck scarf was a must), mannerisms etc
Different times as you say.

Am I the only one who thinks there's more than a whiff of horseshit about this story? No HR dept would surely ever send out a letter like that. It would be good if we saw the whole printed letter with letterhead. There are 10 year olds with better grammar than used in that letter.
