I've watched a few of these podcasts now, usually players who played for Dave Jones' Cardiff side and Welsh internationals.
While I don't expect all players to be absolute role models, it's really depressing for me as a 40-something male to realise that the majority of the teams I've blindly followed during my life have consisted of absolute p**s artists.

He comes across as a bit of a dick. Dropped from the play off second leg so he didn’t want to play again. Hardly committed.

toys out of the pram moment and shows what type of person he is
though we have all heard of what it was like to play for Wales back then, a boys jolly with little thought of the game in hand, I guess thats why we always failed
at some point it became a thing of pride to play for your country, hopefully younger players have seen Bale, Gunts, Rambo ( to name just 3, I know we have more ) take immense pride in player for Wales

Is it just me that finds all these we just went out and got completely wasted stories really cringeworthy?

I suppose Johnson played for Wales when we were a joke under Gould. Even allowing for that he was lucky to have played international football. Fully agree with you about how much it means to play for the country for the likes of Bale, Rambo and Gunts and that makes all the difference between success and failure.

Just because you may have seen the light doesnt make you any less sad than them. By your own admission you were an arsehole in drink, you should have more empathy with people who still struggle with it.

He’s proud of how much of a twat he was when he was younger. There’s the difference.

Si Ferry. I never knew him. He was at Celtic as a youngster and played under Di Canio at Swindon. I’m watching the full length crying laughing. His stories about Thomas Graveson are hilarious.

Thanks, I’ve heard of him, probably through Football Manager. I’ll have a look at it later on.

Also, it's not true. He started the second leg. He took a bad tackle early on and was subbed for Earnie after 57 minutes.
I can't find anyone that gave him MOTM in the first leg, either. Guardian went with Gabbidon. BBC singled-out Koumas. I guess someone might have.
Probably just a fat bloke pushing 50 embellishing stories of his youth, though.

Bobby Gould really did his homework on Welsh eligibility :hehe:

Isn't he the fella that was on co-comms for WBA TV when we got the draw up there in August? I found a feed online and like you say, he came across like a bit of a dick.

My humble apologies. I read your post as 'men' not 'man' thought you were having a pop at middle aged men in general.
Agree on Johnson, comes across as a complete and utter bellend.
