If you like reading about the misfortune of idiots, I can highly recommend any of the Heroic Failures books. I think there's about 4-5 of them now.

Re: Funny books to make you laugh
Fiction wise, Christopher Fowler's Bryant and May peculiar crimes series has me in tears of laughter often.
Also if you have any interest in the secret, hidden history of London you will learn a lot, Fowler is an expert.

Definitely!
Though I feel the early ones were funnier, the later ones were better stories. Take your pick.
Also "Good Omens" he wrote with Neil Gaiman (sp)

Tom Sharpe books back in the day used to make me laugh outloud as

Private Eye is a constant source of amusement.

Tom Sharpe books are briliant, like Blot on the lanscape and the ones involving Constable Els the black (apartied time) S African policeman. Hillarious. Read on of his and you'll have to read them all.

I'm not sure if the early books were a lot better or if I was just younger/hadn't seen anything in that vein before. Whichever I've read some of his later books and found them tedious. Wilt, the Throwback and Riotous Assembly though - I really did lol at those all the way through.
