Newcastle V Spurs tomorrow - 3 days after the season finished
In Australia
Despite scrapping replays for "player welfare".
Re: Newcastle V Spurs tomorrow - 3 days after the season finished
Ridiculous. I wonder who'll show up. If I was one of the players, I'd tell the club to **** off.

First team for both all travelled except those with injuries. They won’t tell the club to **** off because it’s written into those nice fat contracts they all have.
Player welfare my arse.

No you wouldn’t.
Travel first class. Pampered all the way. Jog round at half pace and with little intensity in a friendly. First class all the way back.
Sounds alright to me.

Just on the way home from the game, great to see a couple of almost full strength premier league teams in Melbourne, nearly 80,000 attendance at the MCG too. Not bad for a friendly
Re: Newcastle V Spurs tomorrow - 3 days after the season finished
We did that in 1968 - 13 games in New Caledonia, New Zealand and Australia. Don't think we travelled first class though.

Have you ever flown to Australia? Have you ever flown first class? It's not even has comfortable as a cheap hotel room. Nowhere near in fact. I'm sure the players won't exactly be wowed by first class and pampering anyway. They could get that anywhere.

Are they home yet, or are they still playing tomorrow :hehe::hehe::hehe:

The answer to your questions is no and I've no doubt they can get get pampered anywhere.
You said you'd tell the club to **** off which I doubted.
If they did, I think the players should shut up, get on the plane and do the job they get paid a fortune for.

If I was a PL footballer and had given 100% from July until mid-May, the last thing I would want to do is get on a plane and fly to Australia for one friendly match. And I honestly don't think I would.
