International football friendlys
Anyone else think they are a complete waste of time, and should be stopped?
Re: International football friendlys
Nope. Ideal for bringing younger players in, playing without Bale etc.
Re: International football friendlys
I would rather watch domestic football. Scrapping international football wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

That would be good, used to love the home internationals, especially when we beat England at Wembley in 77 and the bastard coach driver facked off and left 50 of us up there :hehe:

Don’t agree at all. A complete waste of time and effort. There’s enough games for players to play without having to get involved in timid meaningless friendlies. If a youngster is decent, chuck him into the deep end and let him loose. He’ll learn more in a real game that he will in 10 friendlies.

The friendly with France wasn't 'timid'!

It was a good game of football to watch but would rather have been watching Cardiff play their forthcoming fixture.

If you don’t qualify then you have to play some friendlies or you won’t play a game for a year. That said I like the fact that we are playing in the China cup against quality opposition with a bit of a competitive edge to it, maybe the FAW could think of hosting something similar in the future so we don’t have to travel half way around the world.
Re: International football friendlys
Many of them will be gone by this time next year.
That new 'league' tournament is starting, taking up most of the Sept, Oct & Nov international breaks.
March will be the only international break with the potential for friendlies to be played.

Just throw a 17 year old against a load of experienced international team. Not like WE drew 5 out of 10 in the last campaign.

Yes. If he’s good enough he’ll cope.

Yes
Re: International football friendlys
From a gambling point of view all these international breaks are pissing me right off. September, October, November. Ridiculous,

In a fairytale world Probably. No manager is going to risk that with so much at stake though.
I hate friendlies but you can see why they have a purpose...
Re: International football friendlys
With the amount of money, both in wages and transfer fees, that clubs lay out on international players, I’m surprised that there seems to be more international games than ever these days.
France last year was a great experience but I can honestly say I wouldn’t miss international football one bit if they pulled the pin on it.

mini tournaments must be the way forward, something to play for in most games, sure it might be some tinpot cup, but a cup is a cup

Agreed. Should be behind closed doors, or free to the public. They tell us nothing. Same with club friendlies.
