Champions League attack v's defence
and defence won, crazy how they've knocked Man City out again while being by miles the worst team.
Shouldn't these games be settled on a golden goal then points for shots, corners shots on goal, or something better to stop teams from just playing for penalties?
the stupid Manc fans cost them the game refusing to give the ball back!

Real Madrid did their work. It paid off. Nothing to see here...

Eric would be furious, he'd want Ancelotti hung drawn, and quartered for winning the Champions League the wrong way!

If you win, it doesn’t matter. Also, Real don’t do this every game, they’re very flexible. It’s why Ancelotti is one of the best managers ever.

Knew what needed to be done and did it, had Rudiger not cocked up his clearance Real would have won in 90 minutes
For all of their dominance how many clear chances did Man City create?

Here’s a revolutionary idea, what winning on away goals???? Man City’s adventurous play in Madrid, which made for a cracking game, would have been rewarded and the most entertaining side over the two legs would have progressed. Strange why they’ve changed this rule. It curtailed the Italian type catannacio of yesteryear.

Good point, I'd almost forgotten about that so quickly, Real would have had to try and win yesterday it was better and more exciting under the old format

And the home side can sit back and try and play on the counter. Man City would never have done that, even if they were 5 goals up from the first leg, but plenty of sides would, and who could blame them. We all want to be entertained, but just because we want excitement and goals, it doesn't mean that's what the professionals want. We should applaud RM's defending, holding, The coaching staff at RM will be doing cart wheels today. They got it right, all that they worked on came to fruition.

Re: Champions League attack v's defence
Man City put virtually every corner right on top of the backup keeper for Madrid yet seemed reluctant to test him with shots from 25 yard. I thought Madrid could have seen out another hour and not conceded.

Unbelievable defending
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68830107
67%33%
33 shots 8
9 on target 3
18 corners 1
1 point a shot
2 points a corner
3 points a shot on target
or something like that, they would have had to play
Cup games only obviously otherwise Cardiff might be relegated :hehe:

The reverse Real would have edged it but over the two games murdered, bar the goals required.

Real Madrid are top scorers in La Liga and second top scorers from open play. They will probably win the league. Being more defensive against the likely Premier League champions away from home in the second leg of a European tie is completely natural. They certainly weren't like it in the first leg and haven't been ultra cautious throughout the campaign.
We are the poorest side in the second tier for scoring from open play and have one of the poorest scoring records in the divisjon. We'd play two defensive midfielders against a side in the bottom 3, hope not to concede and pinch a late winner. That's not natural.
You've had a bit of a mare here, there is no comparison between the two and you've made yourself look a bit of a fool again.

Only NCB could somehow use Ancelotti and Real Madrid as an example to justify Bulut Ball :hehe:

With the best wind ups you don't reveal its a wind up
I read the Ancelotti book, thought it was a really good read.
As for Madrids tactics, good teams adapt, they can also bang them in, look at their lineup.
When the big boys do it, and you can see the tactical battle its more acceptable (my opinion) than a load of cloggers sitting behind the ball and hoping, the difference being Madrid can turn it on when needs be.

Reminds me of them weasely types in work that won't say something straight up, but they'll say it sarcastically because they're too scared to be straight. Fall back on the "its only a joke mate" when people tell them to **** off.

Many a true word spoken in jest

Re: Champions League attack v's defence
Real did what they often do. They have a game plan, they stick to it and they work their socks off. They strangled Man City. They barely gave them any time or space. If you can't beat them at their own game you have to find another way. And they did.

Re: Champions League attack v's defence
As I said earlier, scrapping the away goals rule was a mistake I reckon. It had its flaws yes, but at least Madrid would have had to gone out to win the other night or get a 4-4 draw at the minimum. I know which one of the two Madrid/Manchester games I preferred.
