Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD UNITED. Match thread
Match facts
- Cardiff have only managed a victory in one of their last five Championship home games against Sheffield United (D2 L2), with the last two meetings ending 1-1.
- However, the Welsh outfit have only lost one of their last eight league encounters against the Blades (W3 D4).
- Neil Warnock is set to meet his former club Sheffield United for the eighth time since he left them in 2007; he's lost only one of those seven meetings (W3 D3), a 2-0 defeat as Crystal Palace manager in December 2009.
- Cardiff have won both of their opening two games to a league season for the first time since 2011-12 - the Bluebirds have never won their first three games of a league season in their entire history.
- Sheffield United's Billy Sharp has scored just 12 goals in his 61 Championship appearances since the start of 2013-14 - this compared to 51 goals in 90 League One appearances over the last two seasons.

They did well to cover his bald patch. Do you reckon he knows it's there? :sherlock:

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD UNITED. Match thread
I vaguely remember vowing to hate them I think from a game in 2009 when their players were taking the piss after helping to scupper our promotion chances.

Was that the 3-0 loss where we had 2 players sent off?

Yep.
That little cheating ginger bloke got Ross sent off as I remember.
Stephen Quimm I think he was. Not sure where the little shit is these days.
Edit: Reading maybe?

I've despised Sheff Utd ever since that game.
Usually take things like sending offs and losses with a pinch of salt but that day we were cheated...or at least it felt like it.

I'm still angry at them for that match too. I can remember being incredulous that the ref sent Ross off.
Please let us get our first ever 3 match winning run at the start of a season tomorrow!

Always hated playing them. Fuelled by the thug Chris Morgan.
But, that said, one of my best away games ever was when we beat them 4-3 with Whitts getting a hat-trick,
and they had an injury time goal dis-allowed

Wasn't it the perfect hat-trick ?
One left foot, one right foot and a header right in front of us away fans.

That was a great day Mike, ironically made even better when our bus broke down outside after the game.
They also had a goal disallowed that would have made it 4-4 in the last minute.

The first goal, was originally ruled out for offside as well, wasn't it? 4 goals in 4 minutes before half time I think. Had to go for a pint to take the edge off!
We were leading 4-2 into injury time, I think the board went up for 6 minutes, we all groaned and a kid next to me said, "don't worry, they've got to score two". "Just you wait, this is Cardiff". They immediately scored through James Harper and then I think it was that little rodent Stephen Quinn scored, his shirt came off, jumping in the crowd, full works etc, only for it to be ruled out.

Can we get Lecter's score prediction please?

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD UNITED. Match thread
Big game for hoilett IMO. He's a talented guy, but hasn't been showing it often enough. If he can put in back to back great games then maybe he can build a run of form.
I think it'll be much trickier than the villa game, Sheffield utd will at least be a cohesive team

That Harper was a good player.

Gone for a more attacking line up on paper but I can't see how more attacking than we can be since last Saturday?

Sounds like it. Richards left back. Not fussed. Fingers crossed.
