I’d imagine there has been some serious money wasted in the Tan era!

No wonder Kev liked playing for us!

In fairness, the agent was right about what it would cost to find a similar replacement. However, to more than quadruple his wages AND a four-year contract extension.. :yikes:

Ridsdale and Dave Jones loved spending money

My man maths makes that £676k per annum for 4 years. Or £2.7m
I suppose the agent’s argument is that a replacement player would cost £1m plus £1.7m in wages?
There must have been lots of other factors to consider like age and resale value but it still doesn’t sound like great negotiation tactics by the club :-o
Re: A football agent gives an interesting anecdote about dealing with the City
Remember Kenwyn Jones on 38k a week
Ridsdale modus operandi was to run on debt - and as long as the debt was serviceable - that was fine. Hammam seemed to operate the same way, as did Isaccs - lending the club someone elses money and charging the club stupid levels of interest - and creaming off the difference for ever - as the debt would never be paid off.
This is the same person that wanted to move a club to Ireland after having a chat with with Tony (Im a real socialist) Blair

Contract news here: https://www.skysports.com/football/n...cnaughton-deal
At this time, Manager Dave Jones, CEO Gethin Jenkins, Chairman Datuk Chan Tien Ghee.
Re: A football agent gives an interesting anecdote about dealing with the City
This is the same Gethin Jenkins that was much lauded as being the best CEO we have had. As it turns out he got tucked up by a Glaswegian chancer. No wonder they were all on a cut - players / agents / managers / chairmen and owners have treated this club like a cash cow - at the expense of us. I guess we arent the only only ones.
Ironically it seems like Tan is the only one to put his money where his mouth is and convert debt to equity. Maybe we should have all been a bit more gracious ?

To be fair this is an agent talking.
I've seen this the other week and from memory he kind of makes out Kev was happy on his current wage and he went in and the club kept outbidding themselves with little prompting.
I'm sure the truth as usual is somewhere in between.

Football Agents and Conservatives
You can tell they are lying because their lips are moving
Sam Hammam , Ridsdale big tory boys
It's all coming together now

He was supposed to have converted all of the debt to him to equity by 2021. As far as I'm aware, we still owe him £60m.
