Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
I thought the rules had changed and it had to be a defo scoring chance.
Long way out for a red, but what the ah, we need a bit of luck going our way.
PS:-- Never in a million years, was that a pen
Off to bed now, ccc's U in da morning

Ref was like a kid with a new whistle.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Red card all day long he was bearing down on goal and the guy pulled him down

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Most obvious red you'll see

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Looking at the replay, if the red had been given against us you would have been proper pissed off, he went down very cheaply, but I think from the refs point of view it did look like a shirt pull and he was the last man so really the ref was conned. Haven't had a chance to look at the pen again but it seemed like it was outside the box.

Definite red card.
Dubious penalty.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Definite red. Did he make the most of it? Sure, but it was a deliberate foul and he was the last man.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Just got up,, hope you're all so forgiving when it happens to us.
Never a red.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
Pulling down a striker through on goal is a red, makes it worse that it wasn't even an attempt at a tackle and just pulling him.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
It did look a little harsh although the tv replay seems to suggest that he checked with the linesman before showing the red card so 2 of the officials were in no doubt

Reading that I'd say it's a sending off, there were no other defenders around, the direction of play was directly towards the forest goal and forest had no chance of regaining control of the ball before a goal scoring opportunity.
It was quite far from the goal but I think that's irrelevant.

Don't think the Ref had much choice....Red Card was the right decision.

See if you say the same when it happens to us.

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
If Pilkington's run on goal and two missed attempts had been before the sending off incident, the ref would have known that it was never a goalscoring opportunity:hehe:

That shouldn't be irrelevant unless you're a biased moron

Re: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?
This is an extract from the FIFA laws of the game:
Denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity
Where a player denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity by a deliberate handball offence the player is sent off wherever the
offence occurs.
Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own
penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity
and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned unless:
• The offence is holding, pulling or pushing or
• The offending player does not attempt to play the ball or there is no
possibility for the player making the challenge to play the ball or
• The offence is one which is punishable by a red card wherever it occurs on
the field of play (e.g. serious foul play, violent conduct etc.)
In all the above circumstances the player is sent off.
The referee's decision yesterday was correct. See Page 87 below.

Was it Gyipes that rugby tackled a Leicester forward to help get us to the playoff final?
He walked and it was the right decision then too.
