Jarrod Bowen"...................
Was the subject of a £12 million bid for him from City in January, but he wasn't interested in coming here at the time because Emiliano Sala was still missing and he was uncomfortable coming here under such circumstances according to an interview with him in the Daily Mail.
Re: Jarrod Bowen"...................
Notice the DM didn’t contact City for comment, although it could just be the McKays looking for another slice of money rather than city actually making contact....

Re: Jarrod Bowen"...................
He wouldn't have been bought to replace Sala as the deadline was only 3 days after the plane went missing. He must have been on our radar anyway to play to bolster the midfield and attacking options . Obviously it does sound true that City made a bid but not sure why we would want him as we already have Bobby Reid (even though he doesn't play that often). We may get him cheaper next summer anyway if we are still in the PL.
Re: Jarrod Bowen"...................
he;s playing for hull tonight against norwich . just thundered a shot from 25 yards which hit the post .
Re: Jarrod Bowen"...................
He had trials with us as a teenager but we decided he wasn’t good enough! now worth 12m!

That's been the theme was a good few players who've gone on to be stand-out.

It beggars belief that we have employed people who are unable to see talent. No wonder the academy has been such a massive failure.

Sometimes you just get lucky/unlucky.
Think how many “stars of the future we’ve had” to do absolutely nothing.

Can't think of any over the last few years tbh.

Happened to bigger and better clubs than us.
United paid 80+million for a guy who they sold from their academy.
Chelsea got rid of KDB, Lukaku and Salah for peanuts compared to their worth now.

That was that clown Mourinho. They weren't 6 feet tall.

For kdb and Lukaku, that was Chelsea trying to comply with FFP. Otherwise they would have definitely kept those two. Unfortunate for them as almost all the other big clubs either completely ignored the ruling at the time or found clever accounting ways to get around it.

Who felt the need to contact the press

You really think a player contacts the press rather than the other way around? I suspect that he was just answering questions he had been asked, but even if he did what you say, he was respectful to us and I can understand any player, especially a forward, feeling a bit awkward about linking up with us after what happened to Emiliano Sala.
One of the things I found interesting was that it would appear we would have been happy to spend £12 million on a player on top of the Sala deal.
