politics - on message answers
interesting little convo at the end of this interview that discusses how out of date these 'on message' interviews are becoming.

Re: politics - on message answers
Priti Patel has an interesting back story, I believe. Was the PR manager for a company that was involved in child labour? She also backs capital punishment and voted against same-sex marriage.
The Tories won the last election based on two powerful images and not really allowing the conversation to be about anything else. From their point of view it is smart politics but it doesn't serve the people, it doesn't allow the people they're meant to be representing have a proper voice and it creates a politics where the spin is far more important than finding policy that works best.

Re: politics - on message answers
Caught interviews with Patel and Fallon last night. Both wore very earnest expressions and delivered the party line verbatim about Labour now being a serious threat to national/economic/personal security. It was hackneyed and comical but will probably land very well with a politically illiterate electorate and the Tories organs of propaganda in the printed media.

The Tories are a danger to democracy, constantly manufacturing consent through propaganda and manipulation.

Your right, hence my opposition to the Corbyn victory , we don't need emotional "" long ball "" retro arguments, you need smart forward thinking "" modern tactics ""

It seems impossible to find any balanced individuals who are not deranged by their own ideology/greed. How hard can it be? Or does politics favour pathological liars?

It's not as if the Conservative party hasn't increased the national debt, significantly widened the gap between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of us and continues to engage in foreign policies that increase the security risk to all of us both at home and abroad.

As much as I'm not a supporter of Corbyn (or any political party for that matter) and think that some of his ideas need serious objective financial and practical scrutiny, the Tories/mainstream media response has been extremely predictable.
The Tories are a dangerous collection of individual who are working on behalf of an extremely narrow section of society. That others find some crumbs coming their way is not by design, it is a side-effect.

I totally agree , however they are a less narrow party compared with previous Tory governments ,and surely the same ""[i]extremely narrow section of society" is part of Corbyn's politics.??
Re: politics - on message answers
A depressing interview from one of the worst of the Tories. Sadly many voters are taken in by this empty rhetoric. I hope she gets her comeuppance in time.
