Trollope hopeful he'll be busy in transfer market
Cardiff boss Paul Trollope hopes to make more signings before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
<p><img style="float: right;" title="C:WindowsTempphp4559.tmp" src="http://pictures.footymad.net/upload/120/891313-1.jpg" alt="C:WindowsTempphp4559.tmp" width="350" height="263" />The Bluebirds have signed striker Frederic Gounongbe and defender Jazz Richards (pictured) so far this summer, as well as making the loans of Lex Immers and Kenneth Zohore permanent transfers.</p>
<p>Cardiff's opening Championship fixture is at Birmingham on Saturday, 6 August.</p>
<p>"There's time and I'm sure there'll be a lot of business between now and when the window shuts," said Trollope.</p>
<p>"We're still looking and we're still hopeful."</p>
<p>Cardiff concluded their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 defeat away against Premier League side Bournemouth on Saturday.</p>
<p>Gounongbe led the attack in a 3-4-2-1 formation based on the system which Wales used as they reached their first major tournament semi-final at Euro 2016.</p>
<p>The 28-year-old joined on a free transfer from Westerlo having scored 13 goals for the Belgian side last season.</p>
<p>The Benin international and the relatively inexperienced 22-year-old Zohore are the only recognised strikers in the current Cardiff squad likely to feature this season.</p>
<p>But Trollope would not be drawn when he was asked if attack is an area of the team he is aiming to strengthen in particular.</p>
<p>"I'm not going to go into details in terms of what we're looking for," he said.</p>
<p>"But we're looking at certain areas we think we need to strengthen and add, both in terms of the first team and competition for places and strength in depth which we obviously need."</p>
<p>The other two strikers at Cardiff, Federico Macheda and Adam Le Fondre, have been told they are free to leave if they can find a new club.</p>
<p>"We've got interest in a few of ours who we've made available," added Trollope.</p>
<p>"We've been respectful to them and they've worked hard whichever group they've been with, if we can find a solution that would suit all parties."</p>

Yes, let's wait until al the decent players have been snapped up. Good thinking.

I'm guessing we need to ship out Macheda, Le Fondre and Dikagchoi first ?

According to my man 'on the inside' you are correct there.

There'll be a few disgruntled strikers in other squads when the season kicks off and it will be then when Trollope will swoop, probably loan signings again.
It is likely that we will offload ALF and Macheda probably on similar deals when sides have stuttering starts but hopefully permanent.
Re: Trollope hopeful he'll be busy in transfer market
Assuming the 3-4-2-1 formation mentioned above
Centre backs x3
Manga
Morrison
Connelly
Ajayi
James
Peltier(?)
Wingbacks x2
John
Fabio
Richards
Central midfield (2)
Whittingham
Ralls
O'Keefe
Gunnarsson
Adeyemi (?)
Attacking midfield (x2)
Noone
Pilkington
Harris
Immers
Strikers (1)
Fred
Zohore
Pilkington
Immers
I'm sure there are some really obvious ones I'm missing out, but we might need another wingback for starters, as that is a very physically demanding position, and this is a very physically demanding league

Noone made a brief appearance at Bournemouth but he did enough to suggest he could provide us with a direct option playing in a more central attacking role. Hard to judge on the few minutes he played but in that role he would certainly pose problems. If he can find an end product he could be a v good player for us in this set up.
Re: Trollope hopeful he'll be busy in transfer market
Kennedy (?)
Tutonda (?)
Healey (?)
O'Sullivan (?)

He'll never find an end product in my opinion cos he hasn't got a football brain. I'd be very disappointed if he becomes our number 10

I know, bit you have to have hope. As it stands, he just may be a decent option from the bench, although that is probably extravagant.
