Common sense from the Tories

Never thought I'd say that, but...

The BBC doing its usual white washing of the Tories by omitting the name of the private company that were carrying out these assessments, the value of the contract to that company i.e. how much of taxpayer's money has been squandered on it and finally the number of people who died shortly after being pronounced that they were fit to work.

This was a shameful episode that the Tories embarked on and I for one won't be taken in by this reversal, as it's still the same government in power and despite the obvious social injustice that was perpetrated on the public, all current ministers went along with this program.

Just a pathetic attempt to convince people that they're trying to be nice.

Strangely no mention of all the other underhand (and often illegal) tactics these bastards continue to use in their crusade against the disabled.

Still as long as the daily mail readers think something's being done about the scandal of the feckless and workshy then it's all fair game eh?

They could carry public execution and they'd still be better in many peoples eyes after labours last scandalous "attempts" to run the economy.

Prioritising disability cuts though is baffling. It is as if they are trying to play to the mythical "evil" image people pander. Even though if blair/brown were tories they'd be the epitome of evil.

Big business taxes maybe. But then it is the balance between upholding the economy and having the wedge to give its citizens.

You will not be able to tax business like people suggest and have the same level of welfare. American levels of 40% etc in a tiny island. Business will leave, without a doubt.

There is plenty of discussion about the tories "evil" policies. You hear it every single day.

Government isn't black and white. One party leaves, one picks up the pieces. Blairs and browns impact on the country is barely talked about. Their decisions contributed massively to what you see now.

Free spending is evil. They know the inevitable consequences will come. They are forfeiting long term success for the short term moral high ground that labour lives off.

Or its an attempt t redress some of the ill's of the last government,my misunderstand not all of Cameron /Osborne's policies were universally popular within the party, lets see what happens next before we judge them to be next evil incarnated government.

Things have changed since the days of Churchill sending in the troops, and Maggie attacking the Falklands .

I do remember however living through the 3 day week , gosh it ponged , being on cold picket lines,with home made fire braziers made from someones dustbins , pallets to stand on to stop the cold creeping up your legs ,until someone smashed em up to keep the fire going , drinking nicked doorstep milk , arranging funds and help for strikers families to ensure food was provided , meeting members of militant and socialist workers ,who were so kind to rock up on the picket line,even though we didn't know them ( was that born out of care or just deliberate secondary picketing I wonder ?) . Spotted the very same people at large political events now and then.

Yes I do remember those days, heavily involved.

Workers now do have better rights , not perfect I would agree , but better mainly derived from European socialistic polices and driven into British rights by Blair/Brown governancse.

So you could conclude although they will always be Tories, they are not the same party as back then ( and to answer your next question, no I'm not a Tory voter yet )

No need to reply, as I guess you won't agree anyway .

Always best to assume that " some of us " have also lived a varied long life , with many ups and downs , loves and hates, and changes in political views .

Most OAP's own their own homes because of the Tories.

And in the main socialist voters ,living on council estates were by far the biggest winners. I think it went a long way to even up the wealth imbalance of the country , before decision mine /our my parents would never dream of owning their home, unless they had good money on hand .

The biggest mistake of the policy was not to regenerate and continue to build affordable rented homes , and not let the landlords of today take advantage, of the lesser off .

Yep, they are often quick to moan that the Tories were hard on normal life in those days.

They were hard on what was a dying ideology. Mass labour powered by unions is not the case any more. Technological advancements mean there is more to life.

Peoples expectations of life were moved on light years by the Tories.
