Bangor v Caernarfon in Welsh cup on s4c now
2200 sell out. Caernarfon have sold 1400 tickets for it.
With a population of about 9k that's the equivalent of real madrid taking about 460k away.

Fantastic support and showing how fully engaging with local community can boost interest and attendance.

Re: Bangor v Caernarfon in Welsh cup on s4c now
It's quite a tasty local derby. Bangor just equalised.

Was that Dudders who used to post on here that was interviewed at half time?
Was at the game and going back for Feyenoord-Ajax tomorrow. Now lives in the Netherlands.
I'm almost certain it was.

That was a very good finish from a centre back. Flares on the pitch now, it's all happening. This could get quite lively.

Yes it was

What is his story now?
I know he stopped supporting us (possibly due to the rebrand) but moving to the Netherlands and supporting Feyenoord is a bit much.

You're missing out. Tasty local derby, good football and big crowd....it's not South London I'm talking about.

Coins raining down on the Caernarfon keeper as hes taking that goal kick and the ref books him for time wasting! Wow.

Not the image that anyone would want to remember. Why do some people work so hard to let themselves down?
S4C has shown Cardiff Blues take on Connacht, the team immediately above them, and then followed this with a really interest derby in the Welsh Cup. Neither game was perfect but it was a cracking lineup of sport.

Re: Bangor v Caernarfon in Welsh cup on s4c now
I couldn't help but notice the primitive look of some of the fans in North Wales, they looked different, wide eyed in excitement. Like this was the best thing to ever happen to their small towns. I found it endearing.

Re: Bangor v Caernarfon in Welsh cup on s4c now
we always have a debate on the standard of the welsh prem every year and to me it's league 2 / conference standard
anyone else agree ?

Lower.
The league below the conference although there's not a lot in it.

I think he was "against modern football". If there's anything typifying modern football, isn't it someone moving to a country and suddenly choosing to avidly support one of the "Top 4"?

Id say the top 20% of players in the league are that standard yes.
However overall its lower than league 2. Id agree with the one below the conference on average.

Yes. 2486 was the official attendance.
Bangor has a population of 13k and Caernarfon of 9k.
Thats the equivalent size of say fairwater v dinas powys.
Thats some percentage at the game and you could see they were wound up for it.
Great stuff.

Wales C were beaten by England C but not by that much. I'd say the WPL was conference standard, probably not promotion chasing, and improving.

I tend to think that the likes of TNS, with their full time players and financial backing would do OK in L2.
If Bangor had proper backing they could achieve the same as the support is there in that part ofor NW Wales.
The rest a couple of divisions below. At least.
