Re: Champions League Final
because Wembley wants all the money
Re: Champions League Final
Perhaps coz we have already had the Champions League final here a few years ago, and should give someone else a chance, same reasoning as the Euros?

Wembley already has most of the Euros this summer, the Women's Euros next summer, and the champions league in 2023
Re: Champions League Final
It makes total sense to have it at Wembley. Logistically with the Covid restrictions, all the support staff, media and sponsors need to get into the country, transported, looked after and catered for.
Cardiff airport wouldn't be able to handle it in such a short space of time.

It makes most sense to swap this Champions League final with the one already held at Wembley in 2024 but do you honestly think Wembley (of the UK government) is interested in trading full stadium for partially full one to protect fans/officials?

Cardiff airport would be fine.
I don't think I've ever been more socially distanced than every time I've been to Cardiff airport.
most of the fans would drive or take the train
Re: Champions League Final
Its not the fans i'm talking about though. You've got all the VIP's, press & media, sponsors and UEFA members flying in from all over Europe for the champions league final. Cardiff airport currently has 1 or 2 commercial flights a week only.
Then they all need transporting around Cardiff to hotels (are they open?), catered for, etc, etc.
It probably took months of planning when we hosted it last time, its just not geared up for it last minute especially with covid.
You can fly all the above into heathrow no problem and be able to support them.

Yup. I was being facetious.
Wembley, up the road for most Chelsea players (and fans if allowed).
Why does it need to be such a huge venue anyway?
Villa Park would be fairer.

Birmingham and East Midlands Airports would.

Seems Uefa wanted the UK to "suspend travel / quarantine restrictions" so that fans could go to Turkey and back !
Uk gave them two fingers, now a move of the final to Portugal (?!) is favourite.
At least it's on the green list.
