Mental Health Amongst The Homeless
Poor bastards
Interview with one young guy sleeping rough under a road bridge in London on the news
82 percent of homeless have serious mental health problems
These people get unwell , go into hospital , get treated , get told they will have support workers and a care plan , then get released onto the streets or end up in temporary unsuitable accommodation
Poor bastards
Happy Christmas 🤶

Mental health is bad enough when you've got a roof over your head. Can't imagine how bad it gets with all the extra issues homelessness brings.

 Well said mate. For a lot of people Christmas isn't a great time either. It's always presented as this joyous family occasion but it's really hard for many.

Re: Mental Health Amongst The Homeless
Chicken and the egg though. A lot of these people have mental issues due to their drug problems.
The aggresive begging going on in Merthyr this last 12-18 months is not pretty and they are not homeless either, they are being housed in several hotels and B&Bs around the town.
I no longer give them any spare change, id rather give to a foodbank. Help people who are struggling whilst still trying to give life a go.

Spent the weekend in Manchester.
Not been there for years, last time I was up there they had a huge spice problem and I was told by locals to stop (drunkenly) giving change to so many of them, one bloke actually came out of a pub and followed our group up the road to tell me as he'd spotted me pissed up giving change to so many people :hehe:
This weekend I bought 2 people bags of food in Tesco express, plenty of drinks etc. The one fella just wanted sweets and chocolates.. wasn't as bad around deansgate as I found it the 2 previous times I visited.
I get the chicken and the egg comment, but lots of them turn to drugs after being homeless.

Under the law they are homeless they are just not in permanent housing
Youngsters who develop mental health problems through drug use usually do so because they have existing problems , which leads to drug abuse , which makes things worse
The people who are homeless on the street face incredible obstacles . Those that visit food backs are no more or less deserving , it's just a different kind of need .
If you don't wish to give to the homeless for whatever reason that's entirely up to you but plenty of people do .

Yesterday I was trying to get out of Bridgend whilst hundreds of people were lined up at the tills or in cars doing their Xmas shopping , it's absolutely crazy the money people spend whilst so much misery is going on I have never understood it

Give over. If people who work hard for their money want to treat themselves or their loved ones they shouldnt feel guilty because of something that is out of their control.

I dont wish to give to the homeless anymore when I know that money is just going to drugs. I used to think "Ah well at least its numbing the pain for a bit" but the bunch of so-called "homeless" that are hanging around Tesco, Merthyr at the moment are a very undesireable bunch, some who ive known for 30+ years since they were kids/teenagers and were always wrong-uns or bullys, so, no , I wont be giving to the likes of them anymore.
When I go food shopping tonight ill probably do a bag for the foodbank. At least you know the people receiving a foodbank parcel will be grateful.

Well people are entitled to do with their money what they want but with regard to having no control over something I would suggest that's its fairly easy not to spend 1000 quid on Xmas presents and give some of it to the various charities helping those well off .

When that might be your ex mates in Merthyr but most homeless people have a story to tell other than they were wrong uns or school bully's
But well done on helping out the food bank , I knew there was a socialist in there somewhere

But why should I? The government gets enough of my taxes, then theres council tax.etc and I already said I will give what I can. If I want to spend a grand or 2 on xmas on me and my family thats my perogative. I work hard all year around to be able to give my kids and family nice Xmas / holiday break.
Whatever next? Dont spend £4/5k on my summer holiday once a year which both my wife and I work bloody hard for because some people are less fortunate?
Youre a bloody commie.

You sound like a tory
I work hard , My wife words hard etc etc
You have been sucked into the tory trap
Divide and rule
Do you think YOU work harder than nurses , cleaners , road sweepers ?
You possibly think you do as you are more able to afford your lifestyle but this I work hard plea is plain daft
Send me some boxer shorts and thermals and I will ensure they go to A good home this winter

And you sound like a proper sponger whos never done a days work in his life. Just wants everything handed to him on a plate.
No divide and rule here I support all the workers / stikers in trying to get a better pay deal for themselves.
I do however take umbridge with a free loader like you telling where I should spend my hard earned earnings.

I've said this before but the Senedd were very progressive in trying to address homelessness but the real issue is there isn't enough money to throw at it.
I think in Wales though all are currently offered temporary accommodation and theoretically there is no need for anyone to be sleeping rough?
Some chose to do so for a number of varying reasons.
JR Hartley, the lad outside Lidl has a property. Near me as it goes.

People living on the street are "homeless" - people living in hotels or B&Bs are of "no fixed abode".

B? His father is a millionaire and owns a hotel whilst hes badgering old biddies for a quid to help them with their shopping. You couldnt make it up.
Hes actually one of the more pleasant ones though. I asked him did he want some food once, he said no he had eaten but could he borrow my phone. He then proceeded to call his dealer and place an order. :hehe:

I can't speak about up Merthyr but in Cardiff the council are a joke and think that only an average of 7 people sleep rough on average
They are lying or living in cloud cuckoo land

Are you in China ?
Next time you are this way I will put you in touch with a charity that does regular food and clothing runs to the homeless in Cardiff
People are often on the streets because they are offered temporary accommodation in bedsits or hostels but refuse them as the violence is so bad
You can define it any way you like as far as the people I know who are helped by the charities they are homeless ...without a home .....sometimes a bed for the night , a month , a temporary bed and breakfast for them and their children .....that's homeless
What would you say is acceptable ?

Re: Mental Health Amongst The Homeless
So people shouldn’t spend money to enjoy Christmas but it’s okay for you to spend money to enjoy (if you can call it that these days) supporting CCFC?
