Swiss game is really good. Very high tempo. Wales 2-0 up away from home. Both Cardiff full backs playing.
David Brooks. Remember the name. Just scored a wonder goal. He'll be in with the seniors soon.

I thought he looked very good for Sheffield United when we played them. Cracking little player, as was the kid O'Hare for Villa.

Mate, he should probably be in with the seniors. He's got something you can't teach.

Surprised he's back with Wales, didn't he switch his allegiance from Wales to England recently?

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
3 nil ft. Seen last 15 or so mins. As well as both fullbacks Harris came on for last 10 mins. Brooks does indeed look a player. Physically very strong, good attitude and no little ability.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Yes Emjay, Brooks switched back. My hunch is for good. He did stand out.
Thought our centre backs were good too. Nice third goal from George Thomas for 3-0 away to the Swiss. We have lads who can take players out of the game and we have goals in this side and we're hard to break down.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Brooks opted to play for England in the Toulon tournament and at the time it was reported that he had made his mind up about who he wanted to play his international football for, but, obviously, that's not the case.
What an impressive win that was - disappointing to hear the Welsh bench telling Mark Harris to take the ball to the corner flag when we were 3-0 up with about two minutes left though.
Thanks for the link blue in the face .

Yeah, I thought exactly the same Bob, alien concept for fans of a certain vintage!

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
If Books continues to get minutes for Sheffield United and Woodburn remains out of the picture at Liverpool he'll be in the seniors very soon, could even be on the hypothetical plane to Russia if we somehow make it

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
With nine eligible squad members away on international duty, City's Development team have five trialists in their squad for this afternoon's game at Huddersfield - ko 1 pm.

A 2-1 win for a City team with two trialist full backs and three trialist forwards - Huddersfield are usually very strong at this level (I've seen them stuff us twice down here), so this is a very good result for City.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Reminder guys that the Welsh u21s are away to Portugal tomorrow. I keep dropping the links for games in at last notice so folks don't see in time.
The u19s are supposed to be playing Iceland again at 17.00. Couldn't find a link for the last game but maybe that was a good thing. A few bluebirds involved though. Will try and find a link again.

Doood. I made the same silly comment on another board. I don't think Woodburn would've got on if Ledley and Allen were available. So thank goodness they weren't. I cannot stop watching that goal. One of my favorite moments watching football.

Wow. Thanks for the update. Great result. I was sort of dodging the result knowing players would be missing. This French right back sounds decent from what you said last time. Shame Coxe didn't go out on loan but could be a good excuse to make him try different positions if we sign the Frenchy.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
"Already a massive difference in the DVP this season.
Craig Bellamy was the manager last season and we suffered badly in my opinion, well the results don't lie, they were pretty awful.
Andy Legg is the manager this season and in charge and runs the show full-time."

Any idea who any of the triallists were?

Absurd. Wonder what Bellers has done to upset him!!
Cracking result by Development side. Any info on game? Trialists involved, goalscorers?

Wasn't Bellers just "player development manager". Was he actually managing the DVP side at any stage?
Also, isn't Jarred Harvey co-manager as well this year? I'm not quite sure of Legg's role?

Assuming they are still on trial with us, two could be David Attah (LW) and Ufumwen Osawe (RB). Here's TOBW's report from the previous game. Encouraging read on Osawe...

Jarred Harvey was manager last year and is manager this year. Bellamy is now taking the u18s where I believe we have a decent crop of youngsters.

Spence starting again for the u19s Iceland rematch. Ratcliffe and Sharif into the side. Reynolds and Bodenham out. It's going much better this time, we're only losing 0-1 at HT.
Hope City scout some of these Icelandic kids.

Woodburn would have got on. We needed a goal, he's an attacker.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Of much more importance having now seen the highlight's has anyone (Gringo, TOBW) come up with a name for our trialist striker who scored both goals? As reported his second was a fine goal. Very pacey and well built, hard not to make a comparison with Ken. From the brief highlights a few other trialists appeared to have acquitted themselves well too.

I can't be too much use to you I'm afraid emjay. I can tell you that the trialist right back was not the French lad Attah who quite impressed me when I watched him against Crewe a fortnight ago and the number 11 looked quite like Osawe who scored the late winner in that match. There's some good close ups of the other trialists including the number nine who looked pretty good besides his goal, but I didn't recognise anyone - nice to see Mark Hudson on the touchline as well.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Highlights Coxe and Abbruzzese in action for Wales u21s vs a very impressive full strength Portugal.

Having watched it again this morning, despite what the initial report said, it was the no 7 (right midfielder) who netted the first and the impressive looking number 9 the winner. Great effort by the number 10 of a worldy from his own half, it looked in all the way, their goalkeeper was certainly of that opinion! Let's hope some of these trialist have done enough for a few run outs to further impress. Pretty hard to make any judgement on one 90 min showing, let alone viewing 4 mins highlights of said game!

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Yeah, great to see bet he is buzzing. Hopefully he'll get a good 45 mins in. Are you going tonight? Would be good to get some insight into your thought on the trialists involved.

2 Nil to Hull after 34 minutes.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Byrne, Duffus, Abbruzzese, Veale (C), Trialist, Young, Paterson, Waite, Trialist, Harris, Coxe.
Spence on for Paterson at HT
Reynolds on for Young
City Twitter account saying the Harris is playing well on the left. I'm presuming that's Mark not Kareem.

And he scores!! 1-2.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
The team sheet at the ground listed the trialists as Ciaron Brown
http://www.kilburntimes.co.uk/sport/...sday-1-5110338
and Jahvan Davidson-Miller.
http://www.belpertownfc.co.uk/teams/...miller-1889697
There was also a player on the bench called Thomas Gaydu but he didn't get on.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thom...spieler/441124
Whole team struggled first half and we set up both of their goals with poor clearances. Paterson understandably rusty. Did a lot better in the second half. Neither trialist really shone but I thought they did okay in general.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
The trialist (Gaydu) who didn't get on was previously under contract with Inter Milan! Didn't seem much point in having him on the bench if they weren't going to bring him on.
The performance and formation in the first half I thought was shambolic but they switched to a more orthodox 442 in the second half and were much improved.

Definitely a struggle first half, no one looked comfortable with three at the back. The first goal was a mess and we got opened up time and time again. Paterson was, erm, work in progress and his presence meant Coxe had to play on the left and Abbruzzese in midfield which didn't do either any favours. An improvement second half as you and CS said, we played some good stuff. Waite and Spence are talented lads and always good to watch although Waite tired a bit towards the end.
I'm not sure what Paterson's build will be when he's match fit but he's a unit for now. Looks like him and Mendez-Laing could be a very powerful combination up the right.
