Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Just watching Dunfermline v Dundee Utd 2-0 at half time. Fagan-Walcott doing ok....he's quite a big lad....commentators say he's been excellent.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
One good result today - u18s won 5-0 at Charlton.

Having lost 1-0 at home to them last week. What's that about?
I'm not sure if the Wales under-21's squad has been mentioned anywhere but Ashford, Joel Colwill, Tom Davies and Eli King are in there (plus Charlie Crew). King has a groin injury though, he's missed the last two Ross County games.

I wondered why he hadn't been playing for Ross.

Who can understand kids these days?
Still no sign of the lesser spotted Crole.

Out on loan isn't he?

At Queens Park, although he hasn't played for them for a while.

Well, exactly. Our lot were probably sulking last week because the coach stopped them from playing Sonic the Hedgehog or from riding their BMXs around the car park or something. What can you do with them?
No sign of Crole, no. Xaviar Benjamin wasn't in the Dunfermline squad either, nor Ryan Kavanagh in the Truro squad (although that poor guy not being injured would be news).
I like Truro. The guy who reports on their games calls them stanzas instead of halves which is very endearing and something I'm thinking of doing myself. They won 2-1 at highly-placed St Albans yesterday to pull themselves away from the relegation zone. Over 2,000 there but the few Truro fans who made the 540 mile round trip (in a regionalised league) made themselves heard.
Two videos in this set of four. If this doesn't humble you as a player then you must have a heart of stone.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Another who seems conspicuous by his absence (if you can be conspicuous playing for the U21s) is Caleb Hughes. Doesn't seem to be on loan so a long term injury?

He's another one with a good future behind him here. Just seems to have disappeared. I saw him score a great free kick for the under-21s a while back but even by then his progress seemed to be stalling. Hard to be critical of the player or the club unless you know all the details but it's bewildering what happens to some of them.
Ntazana Mayembe was about 15 when Bellamy was playing him for the u-18s, looked a good prospect. Signed a contract here in 2020 and made the bench for at least one first team game. Got called up by Zambia for three games and made his debut in the last one, against Senegal (Diedhiou came on for them). He started missing a lot of games at youth level here and there were rumours about him causing some problems. We released him in 2022. He then played for Goytre and now, apparently, plays for Garw SBGC near Bridgend. Make sense of that.

He went on loan to Connahs Quay Nomads but has not played for them yet, so I presume he has a long-term injury

Odd one this. There's a Caleb Hughes lurking around up there but I'm not sure if he's our one or not.
This site suggests he's a 19-year-old from Wrexham.
https://www.transfermarkt.com/connah...s/verein/27028
But this one says he's the City player
https://www.playmakerstats.com/match...n-town/9924597
I haven't seen a site saying they've got two Caleb Hughes so I'm not sure what's occurring.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
As you state above there are two Caleb Hughes the Cardiff one is Caleb Grant Hughes dob 22 Oct 2003, and the Wrexham one is Caleb Sabian Hughes dob 8th September 2004, and it looks like Connahs Quay signed both. but more than likely the stats site has got it wrong.

Funnily enough, that's the game I linked to. My link says it's our one on the bench, yours says it's the Wrexham one but your squad list says it's our one there. Maybe these sites are using Horizon for their stats?
I've got a day off coming up. I'm hoping I'm not sad enough to phone Connahs Quay to find the answer but I can't rule it out at this stage.
I found the Caleb Hughes (our one) free kick against QPR from a couple of years ago. It's at around 1.00 on this compilation. He'd only just come on if I remember rightly. His goal is sandwiched by two centre-forward finishes from James Crole which will help you understand why me, TOBW and others are frustrated that he hasn't pushed on here.

Playing Sweden at 10.00 tomorrow morning in their second game. Sweden also won their first match 2-1.
The u-19s lost a friendly to Belgium 1-0 today. As mentioned in the u-21 thread, five of our lads started (as did Lewis Benjamin). The other two came on as subs in the second half (as did Biancheri). They play a second friendly with Belgium on Monday.

U17s lost 2-1 this morning. Goal from Kpakio assisted by Jac Thomas

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Colwill's back with the 1st team after u21s duty yesterday.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Good win for the u19s in Belgium today. A strong Bluebird contingent again. Former Bluebird Biancheri with the only goal.

Supposedly it was quite a comfortable win according to this: https://x.com/dragonsoccernr/status/...588527259?s=20
DragonSoccer is a great resource for news on Welsh youth teams if you don't use it already
That group certainly seems talented, and they were missing possibly the pick of the bunch in Charlie Crew, hopefully they can develop to their full potential

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
The under-17s play their last game at 10.00 tomorrow morning against Bulgaria. A win will guarantee them at least second place in the group.

Does it? I read that we were qualifying at 2-0, so the goal for Bulgaria didn’t change that did it?

If we can't even say "don't move to the bigger club offering you more money, you've got more chance of playing if you stay" we have zero chance of holding onto our talented youngsters.
