and he's obviously rated by the management as he was in the squads ahead of the likes of Bowen or Patten despite being a few years younger.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
The lunchtime game with Burnley is being streamed by the club as usual.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
No first team squad members in the team today, no trialists either.

On YouTube again. Was more stable last time than the Cardiff City TV streams.

Cracking finish

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Ashford looks to be a different class. Wasn't sure Conte meant that finish, but give him credit on the replay he knew exactly what he was doing.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Thought the goalkeeper could have done a bit better with it, but a lovely goal - well worked and a neat finish.

Man United and Leeds were rumoured to be looking at Ashford weren't they?

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
1-1 Direct breakaway seconds after a very good run from Semenyo.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Burnley the better side for me..

1-2. Trying to play the passing from the back game and caught out.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Burnley look physically stronger. Struggling with their press.
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Burnley slightly better in the first half but one way traffic second half. Not sure if Ashford picked up a knock or was a tactical decision. Defense seems very uncomfortable playing out from the back once Burnley cottoned on to the fact they could be pressured.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Their press is a lot better - I trust taking Ashford off wasn’t a tactical change
-
Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Maybe scouts at the game? In all fairness I think Jefferies has shown some decent stuff coming on, but clearly a very different player to Ashford and City have found it significantly more difficult to maintain possession since.

Remember the old days when 'the press' was simply the art of closing down opponents whenever they had the ball?
Where did this phrase come from? You rarely hear a report these days without it being mentioned. It sounds American to me.

Probably around the same time as customers and matches and leagues being called the product.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
“Deep block” is another one to come through in recent seasons. Anyway, whatever you want to call the press, they’ve done it better than us - 2-1 flattered us.
Was impressed by Owen Pritchard as summariser, he knew his stuff.

2-1 to Burnley FT. Good game though.

Maybe it's just shortened version of gegenpress so its origins would be German.
