Agree. Give them time. But this is not a part political period. Labour would do no better

Will be interesting to see whether any of the major companies that engage contractors now reverse their decision that they "will no longer engage contractors through PSCs"
My guess is that the implementation of where the determination lies will change, but the stance taken by big companies won't.
Highly educated, calm , assured ,has clarity in his deliverance, when he speaks he is not like your usual hesitant repliers, he knows his stuff, no wonder he replaced the last incumbent .
Good appointment by either Cummings or Johnson, someone spotted the potential, we need more fresh younger blood with a modern take on life ??
We are going to face a recession and huge debts after this has been sorted out . Time will tell if boris and his mob have handled this well . There are already rumours that the isolation of the vulnerable , closure of the schools has come two weeks too late .
This is Boris Johnsons watch now
To me he looks like a puppet who has no idea what he's doing and is following instructions.
Spot on plus.
I work in a food bank in Newport. Many of the food banks have closed .Lack of food and volunteers.
We are down to handing out 2 small carrier bags per person regardless of the size of the family.
Many of the food bank volunteers are over 70. They are in self isolation.
Crime will rise. People without criminal records will steal. I heard of one guy on the TV whose income has gone done 85%
This is a crisis.
They need to get money in to peoples back accounts big time .If this goes on long term society as we know it will collapse
There’s no doubt Corbyn would have done much of the above.I hope people don’t live or die to regret the day they elected the Tories.
I’d never vote conservative but I have to say I think that they’ve handled things well, so far in some ways.
But they’ll be judged in hindsight. Are they much too slow? For example the fact Wales v Scotland was called off by the wru rather than the government while gigs continued seemed crazy then and days later in hindsight seems crazier. Football would’ve gone on across the country with thousands of travelling fans, based on their decisions up until at least last weekend
Many people since 2010 have voted for a government that has brought in sweeping draconian changes to the welfare system , meaning people suffering with long term illness for example have had to go through traumatic interviews to prove they are unable to work , even after providing evidence from their specialist consultant ......following these tests many people have been refused benefits and had to appeal .....some have not got that far and killed themselves.
It's the same for universal credit , the government's flagship new all in one benefit
Now millions of people are going to face going cap in hand to this government for help
If you voted conservative and they turn you down I am afraid it's too late to complain now
Bit of a sly one to boost the South Wales economy though, those travelling Jocks who’d already arrived had to eat, drink, buy fags, papers etc, I’d imagine they didn’t bring their own special brew and haggis sandwiches. Town and the Docks were packed over that weekend apparently, outlets even took money off them for the two hours they’d have been in the ground had the game been on. One big last hurrah for the pubs and restaurants before the slump that wouldn’t have happened with an early postponement. Not defending the WRU, as I say it was a bit of sharp, business practice in my opinion.
Great that for employee’s. But not for small business employers. Still ****ed at £94/week
I agree .
Never voted Tory and probably ever will .
However I will admit to feel slighlty safer in their hands at this moment in time, even if they are deemed on CCMB as always evil,no matter what they do.
Yes the austerity measures hurt and went to far and on far too long, however has the policy put money in the bank for us too fight and fix this dreadful moment in our life .
How many ventilators do the NHS have? How many plans do we have for impossible bridges or water cannons that could never be used? There was money there, perhaps not as much as Labour envisioned - who knows?, and political choice about what to spend on. Are you enjoying social distancing on that garden bridge?
Seriously? 2 weeks ago Boris Johnson was holding a press conference where he boasted about going to a hospital with covid-19 cases and continuing to shake people's hands. Every so often someone from the government will say something like "we've asked the leading supermarket chains/Rolls Royce/leading ventilator producers to help" then those are asked and they say no contact has been made yet. So many workplaces still open and running as normal as late as Wednesday this week because UK government still hadn't said about people working from home until about the 17th of this month. There was never going to be a perfect response but it takes a lot of guts to go against advice of WHO on a health matter and the UK is still one of the outliers on this - why? The first confirmed case of Corona in the UK was the 31/01/2020 and we're just now getting the act together.Quote:

Can he just take over from Boris?
Even though it's not much of a challenge then looking brighter and more competent than your boss could bite you in the bum. Johnson and Cummings must have thought that they had purged the Cabinet of any talent and challenge to the divine leader. Why else would you make Pritti Patel Home Secretary for god sake.
He centralised control over the Treasury and thought he put a puppet that would dance to his tune only to see that Sunak makes him look like the snake oil salesman he is on a daily basis. By far the least important part of where we are now but that dynamic is well worth watching going forward.
The bank? What bank? The Bank Of England? The Bank Of England isn't handing out tenners on street corners!
The austerity cult ensured that our public services are in a much weaker position than they would have been and with fewer resources to fight this pandemic. However the Tory Government deals with this crisis now do not give them any false credit for the damage they and the coalition have done to people and services over the past 10 years. It has left us all weaker and more vulnerable - across the board!
Well done Rishi
