I wonder how much having terracing at pitch level made a difference to atmosphere?

Preston away was effectively a 12-0 defeat; you could count any of the goals we conceded against Preston that season as being worth double.

Coming away from the Preston defeat I still thought we would make the playoffs.

I don't think anyone thought otherwise. It was an extraordinary run of events.
Re: The Great Collapse of 2009
It was that Preston game that done our season. We fell apart.
Re: The Great Collapse of 2009
Remember putting a large bet on Burnley Preston and Sheffield Wednesday all winning on the final day. Never felt so miserable cashing in a £250+ winner

Agreed, great days, yet crowds are rising despite that and the quality of football on show.
Re: The Great Collapse of 2009
Horrendous season that, I was at Preston away, one of the worst away days of them all. The wheels came off big time…
Re: The Great Collapse of 2009
15 years since we 'done a Cardiff' could this season be another one. From playoffs to relegation, probably what Eric was thinking when he started the thread.

No, far from it in fact. We're not going down. I think about 10 points would guarantee survival.

Think we will do well to get another 10 points. Where can you see us picking up the required points? Lots of difficult games coming up.
