He got blanked by our manager both times as Morison gave him very short shrift and yesterday, he rounded on him for asking questions about possible signings before the transfer window closes - what on earth was he expecting to be asked about three days before deadline day?
As it turns out, I tend to be on Morison's side when it comes to three at the back - he's certainly right when he says he inherited a squad lacking natural width and my own view is that our specialist defenders have been so poor this season that converting to a back four won't make much difference to that.
However, when a team is, laughably, coming up towards a six month anniversary since they kept a clean sheet and our number one keeper is a week short of a year without one (and that was in a match he went off after ten minutes in!), then it's entirely reasonable to ask whether or not a change in defensive formation may be needed - people who think that are certainly not idiots and deserve better than the disdain our manager clearly has for them.
I like what Morison is trying to do in terms of how we play, but he seems to be struggling lately and his attitude in media engagements in particular has me beginning to hope that we look elsewhere in the summer.
I can see where you are coming from, but to me it seems usual(Not the brightest) football manager fare. He is condescending to a degree, Something i don't like, abd if you are to pull that 'act' out of the hat then i would say that a person at least has to have some professional merit in order to back it up. He hasn't. God knows what he would be like if he became successful at this Management malarkey. I would love to know what the players think of him.

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
Some of the questions are ridiculous mind.
No official bids for Kieffer.
"And you are happy about that, you don't want to lose him either?"
He could definitely try to make it less painful though. He clearly just has little time for them and it wouldn't be a problem for most if we were winning.
The formation question he actually answered alright, he's never getting into proper detail here until we have our own All or Nothing documentary.

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
The tone of the answers to the Morison and formation questions were completely uncalled for.
-
Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
I wouldn’t have an issue with a back 3 if they were anywhere in sight when the opposition attacked.

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
"Hi Steve, Citizen's Nephew, CCMB, just wanted to ask you about Sean Morrison's hair. What conditioner does he use to give it that bounce when he unties it?"

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
He could certainly take a leaf out of the Warnock's book of how to bullshit the fans and press and get away with it.Given the circumstances he's working with I can't say I'm surprised at his attitude when confronted with the same questions.

I’d say turning up at a press conference with sheets of stats after a defeat in a bid to show how much he’d improved things was the start, especially as it was something daft like three games into his reign as manager. That was not only ridiculous, it was embarrassing.
He’s been referring to the press as ‘you lot’ from day one. His attitude sucks. He consistently comes across as a right twat.

Did you notice him say something along the lines of; We beat Bristol City in every aspect of the game except the score, or words to that effect. Some of these young managers/coaches don't half believe their own bullshit.

Yes, I noticed that. He's obviously deluded.

He reminds me of Peter Moores whenever he mentions “Data”, which really didn’t go down well for him

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
I didn't see anything particularly wrong with the interview to be honest and don't think I'd answer anything in-depth regarding tactics/formations either.
As for the man himself, I don't have an opinion just yet and will give him more time to decide whether he fills with confidence or not.

Massive prick. Get him out of our club.

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
For gods sake give the bloke a break. People have been crying out for a young, track suited, type manager with different ideas for years. He is a few months into his first senior job. Who gives a rats arse how he handles the media.
-
Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
he comes across as slightly flustered to me, like he's trying to answer the questions honestly, but on the inside his mind is racing and he's blurting things out he probably wouldn't want to.
that'll come with experience. he'll either be in the job long enough to get better at this side of it or he won't.
it won't be the interviews that have any bearing on whether he keeps the job or not either, it'll come down to results. so this is all fairly irrelevant.

Yes the club needs someone like that, just not him.

Thats only your opinion. Most people appear supportive. Not on this board obviously but thats par for the course - a small group of people who never have anything good to say about any City manager, players, team or anything to do with the club.

Re: Another prickly media appearance by Steve Morison
No doubt you will all now be posting how good a manager Morison is and that his team selection, tactics, formation and subs for the Forest game were spot on. I wont be holding my breath however based on past experiences. I doubt if many (if any) of you actually went to the game either.

Could you re-consider the 'Wont be holding my breath' bit, Cheers.

You doubt that anyone off this messageboard went to the game?

Went to the game. Loved it today but will moan if I want to. That's football. It's never been any different. Long may it continue.

No! You cannot hold the opinion that he could be better with the media AND think we did well today! Pick a side!
Mind you, that comment to Rob Phillips about Sean Morrison looks even weirder now considering he started him!
