Source for those figures. I'm not dismissing them at all. My info comes from their legal advisor so I'd love to go back and tell him he's full of s.hit:thumbup:

I set the pub quiz there on a Wednesday night and the manager told me that, on a Quiz night their takings far exceed any pub in Wales for that day and overall they have the highest turnover. He told me that in recent years the pub down Mermaid Quay that is now The Dock ( forget its previous name) when it was a gin palace did exceed the Arches in the summer but dropped off in the winter. Terra Nova, that’s it ! The Arches, like a lot of pubs these days, seems to be a restaurant that sells beer rather than a pub that sells food and it does get very busy for food and that must be why it’s turnover is so high. Weekly quiz night is also very busy with at least 25 teams and sometimes as many as 35 which is not bad.

Can see pubs doing better with the offy price hike. Perhaps a bit premature.

Fuller have just sold off their 'London Pride' business so maybe they're more alike than you think :hehe:

3 arches is good, a goodatmosphere in the bar and good food in a seperate place. Ideal for everyone, and the beer is kept well too.

Whilst I don't dislike the 3 Arches, the place offers very little for the pub-goer.
It doesn't have the feel of a local pub for me and the atmosphere, like any pub, is determined by the crowd.
I think it's high takings in no small part is down to the decent pub food on offer, seems to suit "older" people and is in a pretty affluent area with very little competition.

Really? It was always terrible when I lived out that way. The 3 arches is always full most days of the week, be amazed if that isn’t their busiest pub.

Yep full of oldies, so it’s busy in the daytime too unlike many brains pubs

The Three Arches is just a standard -out of the packet food-Brains pub. The decor is like every other fit out that Brains do. How anyone can say that the food is good is beyond me. Rank standard. I'd rather do the spoons by the flyover.

They sold the brewing part to Asahi, but I meant that Rains wanted to have a hospitality business like Fullers.

£3.50 upwards to £4.40 unfortunately , I love the cold version

Re: Brains selling off 40 pubs.
I am really struggling to think of a Brains pub I would want to go to other than the City Arms whcih has some great guest cider to save you from drinking their beers , incredibly they charge a fiver for Peroni , so its best to have a short stop , and then head to a Spoons and save a fortune whilst drinking some great ales

So are you saying that the Spoons you would rather eat in isn't rank standard? Not like any other spoons?
We are talking pub food here.
Never properly eaten at the Arches myself, it's what people have said but you can have fish and chips in two different Brains or two different JD Wetherspoons and the be quality miles different

Three arches food is mediocre. I'd go to spoons because it's half the price and not far of the same standard as the arches in my opinion.
