Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Clearly there will be nerves in their first Premiership match for a number of our players, including Bobby who is making his debut for us as well, but we don't appear to be too outclassed so far by a Bournemouth side who we always struggle against.
It sounds OK to me so far and Etheridge will have gained huge confidence from his save.
45 minutes into the season playing away is no time to throw in the towel yet. Lots more to come from us I am sure, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we play when we don't need to play Bamba in midfield.
We just need to try and play our own game a little more in the second half to see what we are able to achieve. A goal would be a great start if we can manage one. I wonder if NW will change things around at half time...

I realise he’s playing out of position but the way he jumps and throws his arms about after the goal when his man jogged past him and he could see it saw my kids learn new words.

First Half Talking Points:
Etheridge is a beautiful man.
Bamba isn’t good enough in midfield.
Reid looks like a wasted £10M if he continues to be dominated.
Mendez-Laing hasn’t done anything
Manga cannot be our centreback.
Ralls and Hoilett have been hit hard and have been struggling since.
Ralls is great.
Should bring Murphy on.
Opinions?

Lots of Bournemouth pressure so far in 2nd half

Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Our best chance looks like if we try to play head tennis for the next 40 coz we can’t string two passes together.
Thank **** we didn’t sign 12 players and blow £100m coz they’d never have gelled as well as us.
-
Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I’d get Bamba off and put Jazz Richards in there, much more composed on the ball and can offer a lot more with quick passes

It's going to be an awfully long season for you if you're getting so frustrated with our limitations this early on. We start each game as massive underdog so 15 minutes here, 20 minutes there will be a hard watch.
Work to be done on the training ground this week mind.

Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Got away with another one there, Brooks had to hit the target there really with the open goal
Danny Ward on for Paterson
Murphy on for NML
-
Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Danny Ward and John Murphy on.

Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Brooks misses sitter!
Quick break right after Morrison stays down uninjured in their area after stretching for the ball.
He's gotta be more savvy.

Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Morrison has an attempt saved on the line...

Just watched all the 1st half abroad.
More than in the game. 2nd best but marginally.
Def need a presence up front. Arter and the Spanish player plus Murphy and Zahore to come in. Its far from doom and gloom.

Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Feck!
Big chance for Mozza.
Could easily have been 1-1.

Thanks for a more positive view on the game. Only able to comment from the radio commentary which never seems that accurate...

We’ve suddenly come alive here! Reid and Murphy looking very pacy indeed
-
Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Great run from Reid.
FK central just outside box for City.. .
Reid skies it :-(
-
Re: BOURNEMOUTH v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Poor free kick from Reid there. Need to do better with chances like that.
Good to see some more positive play from City getting the ball towards to home goal.

It’s frustrating when certain players can’t pass five yards.

Bournemouth using lot's of time wasting tactics and they look there for the taking. Hopefully we can make one of these crosses count.

Of course, but it's just where we are with this starting 11 and at times it will be where we are this squad. It's the first game at a higher level so weaknesses will be exposed more than we'd like also.
It's a good sign that we are still in this game - all promoted sides need that little bit of luck - and that we can still get a very credible result on the opening day. Build from this over the next two weeks and we can be happy, before the run of three tough, tough games.

Camasara on for 10 minutes and to score a 30 yard screamer
