She's probably been working from home.

From what I've heard from people I know in education, there have been lots of discussions behind the scenes and whatever you make of Drakeford, it looks like Kirsty Williams is doing an excellent job as Education Minister (she's Lib Dem by the way).
Have a read of this before you respond:

Read that waffle, doesn’t really tell us anything does it? The five points bla bla which were all met 2 weeks ago?
I’m sure there is plenty to do in schools, so much so in fact that three weeks probably isn’t enough time according to our education secretary? Everything they use needs cleaning for a start, rotation systems worked out, mobile sinks for washing hands brought in and set up with a rota system like in Denmark.
Don’t get me wrong we have a very good relationship with all the teachers at my kids school, my wife runs the PTA, they are all really good teachers. Knowing this I’m sure they are well keen to get back asap. It’s those above, as ever being all political causing the issues in 1980’s Wales.
Next we will here there isn’t enough time to do all that needs doing and they can’t do all this over the summer as they need there holidays to, which is ironic as they’ve been doing nowt mainly for the last 8 weeks.....
Getting quite used to having them home now, maybe I’ll home school them from now on :hehe:

So... You want teachers in the schools to start cleaning? The other things you've said doesn't require them to be there.
You've mentioned "Denmark" and how Wales would never look to do anything like they have done. Did you notice that the framework said " In addition, we are considering international evidence around learning and child health and well-being. We are drawing on a range of international examples of response to disruptions to learning. For example, we are considering practice in Denmark around the use of other buildings to increase capacity; regular handwashing and cleaning; staggering arrivals and departures; and use of floor markings. " :hehe:
I'm sure you'll now congratulate them on this way of thinking.
Goats, I just don't understand what your point is. It sounds like you just think something/anything should be happening to get the kids back in school asap. It is happening, you just can't see it with your own eyes which seems to be annoying you for some reason.
Do you want your child going back even if it's unsafe, just because you think teachers have been "doing nowt"? You said that you didn't ask the teacher in question if she has had to do any work from home. I know secondary school teachers are busy (the ones I know are as busy as ever at the moment) and my friends with kids of primary school age are having work set for them at the moment too... So I assume the teachers are setting it and not Denmark.
What is it that you want to happen? You just sound pissed off that the teacher you spoke to isn't moonlighting as a cleaner in your child's school.

Spoiling for one as ever....
Yes ironic they are looking at Denmark, more just like gazing at them in ore that they can actually do something.
I don’t think it’s unsafe either, I’m not even sure kids can carry the virus let alone get it. As for the work given, I’d imagine I could put that together in a day, we get through their weeks work in about two days so we also use the many other online activities which are better than the schools to be honest.
I think they they need to go in a few times at least before they have another 6 weeks off, else come September they will have been out of the loop for almost 6 months so telling them what to do will be even more difficult. Trial run is def needed. You say it’s happening and I can’t see it, what am I missing then?

Re: Golf clubs reopening in Wales
Yes, kids can get the virus and kids can pass it on. They just seem, generally, to be less badly affected.
I thought this was fairly common knowledge

You sound like you want it both ways... You wanted them to follow Denmark's lead and then when I point out that they are looking at doing just that, you find fault with it.
Just admit that you won't be happy with any outcome in this unless it suits your personal needs and political stance and I'd respect you more for it.
The fact that you said that you don't think that kids can get or even carry the virus is worrying. It does explain your stance a lot more though.
From BBC: "Children have so far accounted for between 1% and 5% of diagnosed Covid-19 cases, have often milder disease than adults and deaths have been extremely rare," according to Prof Adilia Warris, a paediatric infectious diseases specialist at the University of Exeter.
I thought I sent a link to you to read what they are doing at the moment, but it looks like you had to click the link in the bottom of that page to access what I wanted you to see: click the first link on here https://gov.wales/decision-framework...-and-childcare
Just because teachers aren't cleaning the schools doesn't mean a lot of important things aren't happening to ensure that they can re-open when it's safe to do so. I think you're blinded by your dislike of Drakeford, to be honest, when he isn't even the person responsible for education.
What is just common sense is that the kids shouldn't go back just because it may effect their education a bit. Their safety is far more important and sorry to say it again, they can get Covid-19 and so can their teachers and other staff in their schools.

Kirsty Williams the Education Minister.
As I pointed out to goats in my other post, she's a Lib Dem if that's makes it any better for certain posters.

it is a bit disingenuous though isn't it? She is there because the Lib Dems are shoring up the Labour executive. She is still carrying out the government strategy and her remit is in the gift of the first Minister. If she didn't follow the government message she would soon be gone.

I'm not sure I get your point. I'm saying that she is in charge of education for Wales as her paid role - which is what you asked.
I also added that she's a Liberal Democrat for those who wouldn't be able to comprehend that she might be doing a good job because she's one of those bloody Cardiff Bay communists!). I think she's doing a great job, I don't think Drakeford is doing a great job... I hope that clears up any potential confusion.

I didn't disagree with the thrust of your post just the comment about Drakeford not being responsible. As he is the head of the government he is clearly ultimately responsible for the actions of his Ministers, whether that is to praise them, bask in their reflected glory, chastise them or sack them. that's all. Everything else I don't question.

Agreed isn't it intresting where some folk pick and choose which Scandinavia behavour models to adopt and follow .
Im sure with sensible handling of materials this can work.
Teachers not so hands on , just teach .
Children to wear masks along with Teachers.
Perhaps teachers behind screens as the same as our brave supermarket workers .
Teachers at the front if class ( old school) instead of close proximity.
Classes outside on sunny days. (Were warmer than Denmark )
Children's atrendandes on rota days or split days .
Things like runny nose care left to children.
Yeh we can do this and stand alongside aspirational countries like Denmark .
Com'on Mr Drakeford get on the front foot .

They can all see it. A danish teacher was live on bbc news last week talking about it, wondering what all the fuss was about here.
The English head teacher probably didn’t have the same support from local government they do but she couldn’t get her little head around it all. It was almost embarrassing to watch, they really are light years in front of how we operate.

Usually people complaining about teacher's hours are the sorts who couldn't ever teach due to lack of qualifications.

Of course, the Danish teacher is speaking for all Danish teachers.
I have a nephew, well my partner does, and he is asthmatic. Are his parents wrong to be concerned? Are teachers also wrong to be concerned because, in a class of 30, they are likely to have a kids or two who falls in the vulnerable category.

When you say "A danish teacher was live on bbc news last week talking about it, wondering what all the fuss was about here"... Does "here" refer to Wales or the UK?
I assume it's the UK as you said "English head teacher" in your following sentence, but I've asked you the question for two reasons...
You've continuously slagged off Drakeford but not Johnson about this matter (showing your bias) and also, if the Danish teacher doesn't understand why there's a fuss in the UK (the nation with the second largest amount of Covid deaths in the world!) then that person shouldn't be anywhere near a school, in my opinion.
Denmark have had 548 deaths in total. Just to put that in perspective, that's about a quarter of the amount of pupils that attend Whitchurch High. In the entire country, they have had less deaths than a quarter of the capacity of Cardiff's largest school.
The UK have had over 60x the deaths that Denmark have had so there should be a lot more scrutiny on schools reopening to try to ensure it won't start a second wave of infection, don't you think? Especially now you've been reminded earlier that children can catch and carry Covid.

Here he goes again, Drakefords pa. I haven’t seen evidence that kids can get it, in fact with all the talk of football starting I see there is 1 in a million chance of an under 30 dying of covid, one in 10 million under 10 was it?
No evidence formally presented yet, it would be very early for that. But there has been a study sponsored by the Royal College of Paediatricians (although at the moment published via a blog) which cannot identify a single case of a child under 10 passing the virus on.
It seems to be a large study of thousands of cases across China and Europe. One example used in the media is the child of the first UK case, who had been in close contact with almost 200 people. Many had caught a common cold from him but none caught Covid, despite Covid being more contagious .
It is obviously too early to be sure, and more research is needed, but Switzerland are acting on it and allowing children close contact with grandparents.
If young kids could go to school and see family members at some point before too long, without increasing the risk of transfer, it would be massive for people and an economic boost.
Also the fuss I was referring to was getting the schools ready, not catching the virus. You talk about the death rate being so bad but it’s not here in Cardiff County is it? 200 altogether, half of which were in care homes, so 100 people In the community out of what 600,000?
100 isn’t good but no doubt more have died from other factors in the last 8 weeks.
Dont think boris has done that well either to be honest, we lockdown too late but most people didn’t give a shit a few months ago did they. New territory
-
Re: Golf clubs reopening in Wales
Kids have died from it. Kids have spread it. You’re basing your whole opinion by making things up in your head.
