Can't help but smile looking at that league table 😊

I think 3 dogs and taking your chances together with solid defending is always a punt at games like Sunderland

Would Rambo have shone today ?
I am not sure that he would
A good rest and 3 points and confidence for the side without him
Fine result

Apart from one incident, I thought Tanner was superb, especially defensively.
Yes, we were lucky and I think Sunderland are top six, or possibly top two material, but we were so good today. Southampton we’re massacred by them in their last home game and yet we defended so well.

Both are wrong. Wintle is fine. He’s not awful and he’s not fantastic.
However he’s been a part of the last 3 wins so deserves to be let off somewhat.

He's a bit ungainly when he runs but he did not stop running today. He took the captain's armband, assisted the winner, and his teammates made a big fuss of him on the pitch after the final whistle.
Given that Siopis is still bedding-in to the team I'm sure there will be fewer stray passes in midfield as the season progresses and our midfielders become more familiar with each other's game
Ng and Wintle played hundreds of games together at Crewe Alexandra and I noticed today how good their understanding of each other's movement and position is.
This team is going to get better.

I reckon it was more than that. We didn't stop trying to play, we didn't get everyone behind the ball and just hope to get something out of the game. We brought on two attack minded players as well, didn't decide to flood midfield.

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
they weren't very good (Efficient) in front of goal. looks like we stuck to a plan and it worked.

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Wintle is a fine player but in the more advanced role, he looked a bit of a passenger compared to Siopis and Ralls all action roles. I guess he didn't pick the team, positions, or roles and was following the manager's instructions and stayed on and we won :ayatollah:

I think we lost our composure under pressure and as a result they just kept being given the ball back, Ramsey might have calmed the rest of them down a bit.

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Have enjoyed our more attack minded start, mostly when we have won of course.
But every now and then a proper shithouse away win is beautiful. Particularly when you then see all the Sunderland tears.

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Plaudits to Alnwick also....he made some good saves and commands his area......gives confidence to the defence...as opposed to last year....

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
wow didnt expect anything from that today, good battle, they pass it well, big crowd and all
dont know how tanner missed that lol
but onward and upward

Re: FT: SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I thought the back 4 and keeper were immense. We could have retained the ball much better but certainly wasn’t for a lack of effort from all the players and subs, thought they all put a real shift in.
