My original comment was "British is stretching it a bit". This is because he wasn't born in Britain. That is a fact.
He is a fantastic athlete, and he is entitled to have a British passport and live in Britain (not that he does).
I am merely, in an admittedly clumsy way, pointing out that he, like a number of other foreign born sportspeople seem to be eagerly claimed as British by a public and media, so desperate for some form of vicarious glory.
Now I know you like nothing more than pointless arguments Tandy, so I'll leave you with this thought before I go to bed.

I went to School in Cardiff, my wife is from Cardiff, my son was born in Cardiff, all of my friends are from Cardiff, my football team is Cardiff, I've lived here for 47 years, If I'd been good enough I guess I'd qualify to represent Cardiff at a sport, I call Cardiff home, I love the place, but at the end of the day, my passport says I was born in Newport.
