We've won our last 7 second tier meetings between the two at home on the trot, all by a single goal.

I’d have more hope if it was Bonnie.

There’s about 12 stone difference.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Southampton currently 3-0 against Preston at the start of the 2nd half.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Not looking 4ward to this one.
Bet Russell Martin is!

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Hopefully it’s sunny Saturday and I can get in the garden and miss this one.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Southampton have won the last three and are bang in form scoring 8 goals in those games, they are playing for the top two automatic slots, Martin has a great record against us, and everything points to a comfortable Southampton win.

Regardless of the result he will still be a grade a tosser and wish him nothing but bad luck from a sporting perspective and hope his career disappears without a trace

Spot on, I hope we beat them somehow, shatter his dreams, he misses out in the playoffs and gets the sack next season with a terrible start and never works again

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Seen someone suggest that we should have opened the red stand and offered all the tickets to Southampton.
Good call - they could still jump into autos.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Bulut may be forced to be defensive this weekend, operating a cautious approach to the first half and maybe seeing what we can retrieve in the last 10. Just a thought.

Cracking tactic. Southampton won't be expecting that at all. That will have them totally fooled.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Team
Horvath
Ng
Phillips
Goutas
Collins
Wintle
Ralls
Colwill
Bowler
Meite
Grant
Wanted to make a couple more changes, but I can't see Ashford or Turnbull starting. As was alluded to earlier we will be defensive for most of the game, hoping to nick a goal with set piece.
2-0 Southampton

From a sporting perspective I wish he was our manager, and not Mr Negative

Not for me as he condones football violence with his swim away antics - he should be better than that - odious little prick

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Bring your boots on Saturday. You might get a game
"It's not nice, but right now we have 12 injuries," Bulut said. "This weekend a few will not be with us. Sickness, strains. Ng, a strain, for him the season is over. KG Achilles problems, he won't be with us.
"Maybe JC (Jamilu Collins) might not be with us with groin problem. (Ryan) Wintle has the problem with his ankle. The other ones, (Aaron) Ramsey, (Jak) Alnwick, (Kion) Etete - (Callum) Robinson and Josh Bowler are sick. Available players this weekend, it looks like 13 or 14.
"Today I get a report from the medical staff. Started yesterday, the sickness for Robbo and Josh. I hope tomorrow they feel better and can train with us. For now it looks not so well for us. So we will have four or five U21s with us to fill the squad."

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Ng, Grant, Collins, Bowler, Robinson, Wintle, Alnwick, Ramsey, O'Dowda, McGuiness, Etete, Wilson-Esbrand all out/probably out.
Ng's season is over. Ramsey has a grade 2 hamstring tear.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Luey Giles at left back then?
We might as well go with the youngsters, we'll get battered anyway
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
This could be interesting!
Horvath
Romeo - Phillips - Goutas - Ralls
Siopis - J Colwill
Ashford - R Colwill - Meite
Diedhiou
Subs: Turner - Giles - Antwi - Turnbull - Tanner - Conte - Lawlor - Sawyers - Wigley
From what Bulut said today Collins (injury), Bowler and Robinson (both sickness) might make Saturday. But doubts.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
change of formation maybe??. 3 at the back, Wingbacks, just Sipois holding, Overloaded in midfield with some creativity to supply Ashford.
..........Hovarth
...Lawler..Goutas..Phillips
Romeo ...Siopis .........Giles
......Ralls ..... R. Colwill
............Turnball
...........Ashford

Careful... Imagine coming in against Southampton as a young pro, making your debut or real first start and getting absolutely rinsed. That could finish a player off :hehe:

Or is it a free hit and needs good man management to limit any damage?

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
id only play siopisstaker if the janitor is unavailable

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
It can’t get worse. I’d play the youngsters, at least they will give some effort.

Tbh I don’t think effort has been a concern of mine this season, everyone has put a shift in.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
Saints on a roll, Martin loves coming to the CCS, club will ensure as usual it’s like a home game for them and their support. 0:4

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SOUTHAMPTON. Match thread.
If I was linked to one of Southampton’s promotion rivals, I would be very unhappy about the City apparently handing the result to them with all these supposed injuries.
If players like NG have been playing with minor knocks for some weeks, why can’t they carry on for a further 2 weeks to the end of the season when they have May, June and July to recover before the new season begins.
