F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
BBC 2 7pm tonight. I know we never take it seriously but did enjoy our trip to Liverpool last season.

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
I’d like Spurs or Newcastle away.
I predict we’ll get Ipswich at home.

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
Remember the days when the draw was done on the Saturday.
I can remember in 1979 when they did the 3rd round draw on Match of the day and we drew Arsenal at home.
I excitedly phoned my mate about the draw straight afterwards only to be bollocked by his dad for calling late at night.

Traditionally on a Monday dinner time, another thing that’s fallen by the wayside.

Back in the days when no one thought it was a good idea to let everyone know what every team’s number was before a ball was picked out. That said, City were nearly always number ten, but I always enjoyed trying to figure who we’d been drawn against.

Yes, huddling around a transistor radio... great stuff, but we ended up with Stoke away!

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
City drawn away to Margate and played at Dover was an obscure one I attended. Not quite so packed as the crowd of 55, 316 crowd at Ninian Park in 1969 and which was a hell of a crush.
I was disappointed when we drew Tiverton away but they conceded home advantage to us. I came up on one of their two fan coaches, put a Bluebird toffee on each seat before people boarded and looked forward to the craic. However, it was a very civil and twee experience as many of the passengers had brought flasks and a picnic to have on the coach.

If we are ‘rewarded’ with a home tie, the club will retain our excitement by announcing the 2 blocks that will be open and thus signal that they don’t intend to put up a fight and don’t expect us to attend anyway.

A Championship side at home, probably Wigan

I went to the Margate game at The Crabble, Dover. And after we did a booze cruise via the tunnel to load up with cheap drinks.

No surprises there then :-)
I was living in SE London at the time so it wasn't suck a trek.

Very excited for us to battle to a valiant 2-0 defeat to Leeds' reserves in front of a crowd 3,000

Better than it could’ve been. Probably ~13,000 in attendance as Leeds would sell out I imagine.

Can’t see us getting for more a first round cup game than a league game.
Depends how the club prices it too.

It’s a big game , I’d be disappointed with sub 22,009 :hehe:

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
The crowd depends on our form before the game plus entry prices.

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
The game back some years ago was by far my favourite game watching city, or any game. The atmosphere was the best I’ve been in, and they hey Bowyer chant still remains a fav lol. The game had everything. I’ve watched that game back a few times and it never gets boring.

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
Drawing them in the 3rd round again, is it some kind of record?

1956 1957. 1958. Leeds draw 3 successive years and 3 successive 2-1 wins.

we can use these stats to our advantage almost a hundred years later, cheers

Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
For once the FA cup draw has been kind to us and offered us the chance to lose at home to a Premier League side instead of one from League 2.
-
Re: F A Cup 3rd round draw tonight
We'll win 2-1.
Tradition, ain't it.
