The refereeing in Rugby
Far, far superior to football.
20 man brawl, ref just lets them get on with it, then calls the 2 captains and says too many involved to pick out indivuals so he’ll let it slide but enoughs enough now, sort your boys out and let’s get on with the game.
Great refereeing

Except that VAR was a total waste of time when Wales scored a try there

TMO judge had a shocker there
The onfield refs just command respect

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
It is high time they enforced the 'only the captain can approach or speak to the ref' rule in football
-
Re: The refereeing in Rugby
It seems like rugby is so much harder to referee than football, yet they do a better job of it!
That looked a try to me though! You could argue he wasn't in control, but the TMO said the English player touched it down first. He ****ing never!! :hehe:

Even Sir Clive thinks it's a try
Another one of those ones "what if it was at the other end?"

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Having a real go at England fair play. They are so strong at home but they aint lying down. Cant see us coming back though
-
Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Fair play to Wales, had a really good go and if they'd had a little luck could have won it.
Patchell played well but Halfpenny would have scored 2 pens. If my auntie etc...
Disappointing but enjoyable game nonetheless.

Handling errors the difference there, played a very strong last 20.
Good game and a deserved losing bonus point. 6 points from those first two games, expected to get between 1 and 4 I guess so a good return.

why get a bonus point for losing and not scoring a try?

And Rob Andrew,Alfie looked good.

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
I didn't think patchell played very well. His kicking out of the hands was poor. Thought we looked much better with Anscombe at 10.
Good effort though. They got the TMO decision wrong 100%

I think there should be 3 bonus points for being ugly , Wales would start each game at least 9 nil up

I think it was for "hard lines" in view of the TMO bad decision.
-
Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Didn’t look like he actually grounded the ball though, more like it bounced

It reminded me of Friday night when the ball kept bouncing off MWL legs

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Considering the all conquering, untouchable, world beating Saes were going to smash our reserves out of sight at their place, it turns out that they're absolutely miles away from where they think are.
A fairer ref might've seen us beat the Chosen Ones.
Reminds me of their football team and their media a lot.
Da iawn Cymru

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
I watched the last 20 mins. Mind-numbingly boring. 20/30/40 phases to gain 25 meters.
The game is a hybrid of Rugby League. Come on Wigan!

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
I forgot it was on, we have the netball superleague on Skysportsmix, Lightening V's Wasps, cracking game to be fair

Yep. They thought they'd stick 20+ points on us, Wales could have won that

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
To be fair, the reason rugby players don’t argue with the ref is because most of the players have no idea what’s going on. Much like many of the fans.

Great refereeing
more like ref bottled it just like the tmo did with the try. Farrell should have been sin binned for lunging at Davies on the floor, Anyone noticed when Farrell knocked on in the english 22 when he had 2 welsh players catching him. Seems ref in london dont like the Welsh!!!

Difference was disgraceful wasted kicking from Gareth Davies. Time and again simply passed possession to England.

Considering the number of injuries to our top players today was very encouraging. We really are not at all far behind England. Anscombe was a revelation at ten. Shingler superb again as was Cory Hill. The defensive effort was superb. That TMO decision was pathetic.
Had Halfpenny played three penalties in the first half could have been slotted. It may well have been very different.

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Pearcey, that was a good attempt at placing lipstick on a pig. However, 0 tries scored is the tell. Wales women's egg team lost to England today as well. They scored 0 tries too.

Get a grip Oggy. We had a perfectly good try ruled out and had Halfpenny played those first half penalties wouldn’t have been kicked to touch. They would have been converted. England are slightly better than us at the moment and no more than that.

Difficult to say that if Lee Halfpenny had played that we would have won but getting points on the board early may well have made a difference.
As it was, Wales played some really good stuff with ball in hand. As has been mentioned, kicking back down their throats instead of finding touch was key, though we weren't punished as much as we could have been in terms of points.
Sure, rugby is about crossing the opposition line and we did not.
However, I think that Wales will look back with some satisfaction after a performance few had given hope of only a fortnight ago.

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Some beauties posting in this thread! Shitpeas face it your Tiny brain can't comprehend the rules of rugby doesn't mean the rest of can't and Morgan professes to hate rugby yet is very keen to post on any rugby thread:shrug: any welsh man/women who doesn't want wales to win is not really welsh imo

I think halfpenny Would've made a difference in his positional play and would've stopped England pinning us down

Re: The refereeing in Rugby
Footage now clearly shows Hartley spitting on one of the Welsh players. He would have been in deep trouble had the offence been seen by the officials. It’s beginning to look like England got away with it big time
-
Re: The refereeing in Rugby
There was another refereeing howler. The 2nd England try...
The ref blew for a try well before the ball was grounded... I think that means the ball goes dead therefore not a try!!!
