Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
A woman outside the Palace has made two life-size dolls of Charles and Camilla
Two people who met at the wedding of Charles and Di get together at every royal occasion and dress up in hats with hundreds of royal family badges on them
The French had the right idea

I agree with you. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll be glued to BBC News all weekend.

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Thank feck I’m here. Zero news or coverage
-
Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
I have the opinion, Are they doing you any harm ? ? No, so leave them to wave the union flag and smile like goons, its not doing anyone any harm, so leave them to enjoy it
Personally, Im avoiding our Village party ( as the people who are organising it wanted 25 quid each for the BBQ ) so I'll be giving it a miss
-
Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
The hypocrisy of Monday's volunteering/Community day is starting to grate.
We're supposed to spend Saturday watching £millions spent on the crowning of a monarch, then a couple of days later do some charity work for those who aren't so fortunate.
The irony isn't lost on me.

Yes they are doing harm
They are perpetuating the royal family nonsense

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Lunchtime news on BBC Wales - main story was about Welsh people queuing to watch the coronation. How the hell that's the most important news story of the day is beyond me.
-
Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
It's easy enough to ignore these days.
I rarely watch much of our propaganda, plenty of alternative stuff to watch.
I almost forgot about it until recently when the rota in work had the additional bank holiday which is great, thanks Charles.
Of course posters and adverts outside lots of businesses are unavoidable.
Let people get on with it it makes them happy. They probably look at people getting upset over the football as weird.

It's always the same with BBC Wales.
They'll always find someone's second cousin's granny who might have known someone who did something trivial on the other side of the Severn.

Does the increased spending by tourists bring in more money or less as a consequence?

C'mon Eric don't be so naive. Whether you like it or not, a Coronation is a massively historic event for the UK. As Trump would say "It's Yuge"

Does the already rich as feck king need to bleed the people in order to boost tourism?

You sound positively jealous.
Just live your own life and don't worry about false indignation.

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Just glanced at tomorrow's TV
Over 7 hours on BBC1 AND BBC2 (probably exactly the same pics and commentary)
Ditto for ITV, but on the plus side, they won't have Weasel Witchel.

It's a huge historical event and I will watch a good chunk of it. But it is preposterous that it is on both BBC1 and BBC2

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
All premier league games playing god save the king. Including Liverpool....... wonder how that will go down?! Plenty of boos around the stadium I'm sure.

I'm not saying the coronation isn't a massive event in the UK. Of course it is. I would expect the coronation to be the main subject in the news, that's not a problem. But of all things about the coronation, the biggest news story is about those queuing up to get in? Really?

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
It really does show what little progression there is in the UK when there are people defending the blue bloods
The worst of societies because they murdered the most and became the most feared...and now you're happy to spunk 100 million on them because of tourism .What a joke.

What it shows is that a sizeable percentage of the population value and cherish the country's history and traditions. The monarchy, whether you like them or not, is very much part of that.

So colonization, subjugation of others, erasing their culture, theft of their property, and genocide is all OK, because it's "traditional".

I caught a bit of BBC yesterday and someone said the whole world is watching. However, it's not exactly the talk of the village here in the snowy environs of the Kyrgystani mountains.

The propaganda on bbc towards royals puts North Korea to shame the younger generation are realising to get rid not just the royals but all the hangers on as well
France had the right idea fair play

Operation Yewtree has finally caught up with him?

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Heard it said that it’s a ‘once in a generation occasion’, I’d imagine the majority of the population will witness at least another one in their lifetime. Isn't Charles in his 70s now? Not interested myself but it gives us all a break from Wrexham this & Wrexham that:hehe:

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
When is it? (Serious question) can’t arsed to Google it and I know the responses on here will be more amusing

I’m sure the Queen has to die first..........now that’s seriously out of touch with the royal situation :hehe:
-
Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
All a bit to churchy and religious for me….I’ll no doubt catch a bit of it as my kids want to see what it’s all about. They really want to watch ‘Dumb and Dumber’ today too apparently so similar type of viewing on the cards.

Complete nonsense of course.

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Watching it on tv now having my brekkie. I’m by no means a royalist but just having a bit of a nose and interest - if people are enjoying it though celebrating, and waving their flags I’m all for letting them have their fun.
It’ll be back to doom and gloom in the news next week don’t worry.

What has today got to do with any of those things? Absolutely nothing.
It's like saying the inauguration of a new president in the US is showing support for the Vietnam war, for the purchase of native lands, for wars against Mexico or slavery.
Absolutely ridiculous. Some of you guys have a very very distorted view of British history, which is of course a mixture of good and bad, like all countries.
Do you not think any country should have any traditions or respect for history?

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Just turned on Radio 4 news for further discussion and analysis of the local election results. I should have known better.

Not only that. He refers to New York in his name - named after King James II, granted to him by none other than King Charles II! Funny how things go around.
Really his name should be changed to 'Lenapehoking Blue' in honour of the Lenape people, who were the native people's on what is now New York City.
Based on the logic that watching the coronation means supporting all historical wrongs, we can only assume his choice of name indicates support for the destruction of an entire culture!?
Or we could all just chill out and not make such ridiculous assumptions?!

Re: Coronation Cobblers And Nonsense
Nice the Coronation has been timed to take attention away from the Tory drubbing in the local elections east of Offas. Clever move by the government. For anyone caught up in Coronation hysteria, the Tories are currently down 1, 061 seats and have lost control of more than half their councils.
