FT: Bristol City 2 - 1 Cardiff City. Match thread
Severnside derby between two sides with promotion on their minds

Full-back Pisano injured his hamstring during the 2-0 win at Fulham on what was his first start in the Sky Bet Championship for two months. Central defender Baker missed Tuesday's game at Craven Cottage with a knee injury picked up at Sunderland last weekend. Loan striker Cauley Woodrow returns to the squad after being unable to face his parent club Fulham.

Bristol City skipper Bailey Wright misses the game after retrospectively being banned for simulation.

Joe Bennett will be absent again for Cardiff after missing the 3-1 win over Ipswich in midweek. So Lee Peltier switches over to left-back with Callum Paterson on the opposite flank.

Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson face fitness tests on ankle injuries, with Anthony Pilkington ruled out by a dead leg. Matthew Connolly is set to return to the squad after an ankle problem.

Opta stats

The Robins have won two of their last 17 matches against Cardiff in all competitions (D4 L11).

The Bluebirds have won four of their last six trips to Ashton Gate (L2) since a run of 19 games without a win there in all competitions between 1970 and 2010.

Bristol City, who lost their last home league game 3-0 against Leeds, haven't lost back to back home league games by three or more goals since April 1932.

Cardiff have more than double the number of points this season after 15 league games (31) than they had at this stage last season (15).

Bobby Reid has scored nine goals in 15 league appearances this season, as many as he'd managed in his previous 119 games.

Omar Bogle, who scored against Ipswich in his last appearance for Cardiff, hasn't scored in back to back league matches since November 2016 when he played for Grimsby Town in League Two.

I really hope Warnock has called this correctly.
Looks like a battling midfield with very little quality.
I would have preferred to see Tomlin start even if we subbed him after an hour.
-
Re: Team for today
No surprise really. Warnock will want to keep things tight early doors. Thought Gunnar/Ken might have been subs but never mind.

As you say, "I hope OUR NEIL called it right" !
Type of team selected, that if we go a goal down, we're "DOOMED"

Re: Team for today
Bristol 'could' (I dontnknow how to dingbat italics don't on a phone) do to us as we did to Ipswich with that midfield.
Not the worst tactic to keep things right away from home by any means and I don't intent to sound negative, Bogle did well Tuesday as did the wingers with the help of Tomlin and us keeping the ball down and passing.. Bogle 'could' end up looking as lonely as ward did Saturday if we return to booting the ball about.
I do believe we can beat these today, all said..
Keep it tight and Nick a goal will Do, points are important in games like today not so much performance and the manner of how they come about.

Re: Team for today
Away from home agaisnt a free scoring side, saftry fires 60 minutes , if it stays nil nil release (get it ) the Tomlin and Damour and Ward makes sense to me.
He has to keep the squad interested.

Re: Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match thread
You ****ed up the song, dummy.
It should be
"You know what you are!
You know what you are!
Sheep shagging bastards!
You know what you are"
Plastic troll - never been to an actual game...
-
Liam Feeney on.
Oh well. Just have to play down the one side rest of the game now.
-
Re: Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match thread
Peltier booked very early.
Mendez-Laing injured and replaced by Feeney.
Omens not good.
We are definitely underdogs now.
-
Re: Liam Feeney on.
Been unimpressed with him every game I’ve seen.

Re: Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match thread
It's going to be tough now. Warnock doesn't often get it wrong in games with a bit of extra but well, let's see what happens.

Either would put a smile on my face. Bring on Tomlin and Ward for those 2 muppets.
Glad for Bogle also Hoilett continues to impress!

The sooner we can get Gunnar back the better.
Then Bamba can get back into defence and Bruno can take his rightful place back on the bench.
How can a player with such obvious ability look great some of the time and then look utter gash at others.
-
Re: Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match thread
Bogle playing well. Got away Zohore-like and put Feeney in, but shot saved. Second string not doing badly.
-
Re: Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match thread
WalesOnline excellence as always...
"Almost out of nothing, Hoilett cutting in from the right latching onto Peltier’s pass and slipping it to Bogle, whose left foot finish went underneath ‘keeper Etheridge."
