Me too. It’s what they might do with the money that concerns me!

Yes, if not spent on journeymen strikers.

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Think they’ve gone for Pepe Reina on loan.

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Take the money. He's out of contract in 18 months and I doubt we'd get this much for him in the summer.
-
Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Yes please. It'll help soften the blow of what we spent on Madine.....

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Probably the only Premier League stadium where his clearance kicks would have difficulty reaching the stands!

of course we have next step is for neil to chuck in a transfer request and move to the next stage

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Tell them £10 million and meet in the middle.....sound business as we have good backup keeper (not convinced by Day though), and also a very highly rated youngster, who is out on loan. ....As long as we do not waste it on buying another journeyman in Moore.
-
Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Have they got any younger players we could get on loan as part of the deal?
-
Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
They have Jordan Hugill, currently on loan at QPR.
-
Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Decent fee for a keeper. Has done well for us, and is a good player. It's the sort of deal we don't do enough of, get someone in fairly cheap and get a decent fee when they move on.
He has weaknesses to his game but so does every player unless they are at the top.
Fantastic shot stopper, good handling, good presence.
If he goes, I wish him well.

Meet in the middle? I'd snap their hands off for 5.
We have 2 good keepers, not a huge loss if one goes and Day/Murphy move to number 2 with Ratclife as the reserve. Like Bob suggested then let him train with us and play out on loan for experience.

Exactly the way we should be thinking but we probably have someone in mind from Accrington Stanley.

And he didn't fancy it much when he was "young".

Missed that. So yeah Etheridge out, money in, smithies 1 Day 2 and the young lad as the back up, let him play for Barry but train with us.

Yes , but we could resign him now on a new contract and just pay enough to cover his boxing gym fee's , equipment ,minder and bandages .

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Interesting quote :
Harris has since confirmed he will not be involved in Wednesday night's game at League Two Carlisle, adding: "I'm not saying he's not going to be involved from now until the end of the month, but at the moment being on the training pitch is what he needs."

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
that should go for the whole team. I'd field the under 23's

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Some players seem happy to reach a certain point and earn their money.
The best stay behind and work on their weaknesses.
Would it be THAT much of an inconvenience for him to work on his kicking an hour a day after squad training!? Same as others that keep their head down while running and can't find a pass etc.
Fans pay good money, you earn good money. Put the extra effort in.
-
Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
Wales Online now saying West Ham have not bid for Etheridge - which is no surprise at all.

In the same way some players can't lift their head up when they're running with the ball (NML) Etheridge may not have that ability on matchday to be able to get his body shape right and put his foot through the ball. You can always tell when it's going to be a bad one, he's so square on to the ball. It must be psychological, i bet he's great in training.

Someone mentioned he was good pre match in shot practice.
I would just like to see some improvement on it, if he's ok in training with kicking then he's obviously not under any pressure, I don't know but it's not up to us fans to come up with a solution or a training method to help them, that's on him to ask for more help and the club to come up with a solution.
Maybe a brain training app to work on his sharpness or whackamole to help with his speed of decision making under pressure.

Re: West Ham bid for Etheridge.
For a pro footballer Glatzel doesn’t seem to be able to strike a ball cleanly, a couple of his goals have appeared to be scuffed in. When he turned the two defenders on the edge of the box on Sunday ( did very well to do it I might add), I thought he should have took it on a yard or two, he was more or less one on one, but his shot was abysmal. A great shame after a decent bit of skill (if unwittingly )

Etheridge stays then
