Agree with many of the aforementioned but a proper top oldie is missing, Humphry Bogart.
The Big Sleep, one of my all time favourite oldie (non-Hitchcock) films.

Richard Harris (Just watched 'This Sporting Life' last night. Quite a bleak portrayal of life oop north in the early 60s)
I have really enjoyed most of Tom Hardy's movies, so he is up their for me.
For those who mentioned Anthony Hopkins
I have heard is performance in the new TV series Westworld is outstanding.
I had the pleasure of meeting Hopkins and Whalberg on set of Transformers 5 recently, I worked on the some of the battle scenes in Brecon (I'm sure he had an influence on that location choice lol)
Anthony Hopkins is very good in Westworld.
He is a fantastic actor. I remember first noticing him in the 1970s BBC adaptation of War And Peace when he played Pierre Bezhukov. However, although he has produced some outstanding performances in his career, he has also shown up in some total disasters (not only 'disaster movies') where he didn't have to get out of first gear to collect his fee and laugh all the way to the bank. When he's good he's very good - but he can also be less than average in some of the Golden Turkey's he's been in!
Spacey
Newman
Brando
John Travolta, plays a character with a lot of warmth. His performance in Pulp fiction is my favourite of all time. Di Caprio smashes every role he's given out of the park too, definitely a great of our times.
I agree with most of the above (especially Pete Postlethwaite).
I'll add two current actors who I think are exceptional:
Benedict Cumberbatch
Eddie Redmayne
Anthony Hopkins.
Denzel Washington
And my new favourite is Michael fassbender , he really would have made a good Bond.
