Ten goals and nine assists for Barnsley this season - impressive figures.

We were linked with another one of their players (Scowen) a few weeks ago - think he's out of contract this summer as well, but Burnley have been looking at him as well apparently.
Don't know a great deal about Watkins to be honest, he came on as a sub down here and made the winning goal

Yeah but we don't want to be jamming players into the team for the sake of it.

Barnsley impressed me at home with there pace and desire

Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Let's hope it's true and we're not left waiting in vain.

Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Looks like the majority of goals and assists he's got this year have been when he's been playing up front rather than on the wing
-
Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
I hadn't heard of him before this season but based on what I have seen I would be happy to see him sign for us

Don't know much about Watkins but that Scowen ripped the hell out of us down here - he went to ground a bit easy and moaned a lot but looked hell of a player

Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Would he come to Wale(r)s though?

Three little birds have told me this is happening.

The Winter window of this current season would be the start, if not before then.
Marley Watkins is a winger come striker/striker come winger who is probably their most important player left at the club. He must be close to Wales selection and would be, on paper at least, a fantastic signing.

What are the chances he'll go west if they get relegated?
-
Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Seems a bit odd that at the age of 26 he doesn't appear to have ever been involved in any of the Wales age groups.
-
Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Amazing how he hasn't featured for Wales this campaign when Cotterill has been called up 4 out of 5 times.

His career path probably offers a clue why he hasn't featured for Wales youth teams
He was released by Swansea, went to Cheltenham then dropped into non-league with Bath and Hereford before joining Inverness and then Barnsley
Sounds like a late bloomer, a Welsh Jamie Vardy? :wales:

He was on the standby list for the Ireland game, ahead of Cotterill apparently. Cotterill is apparently retiring from International Football anyway :hehe:

If the guys a jack will he put the commitment in for us ? Possibly but it's a big ask.
Shame as selling Pilkington and getting him in is good business sense.

He's a professional footballer. Carragher was an Evertonian, so were Fowler and Owen. It shouldn't matter.

We've already got Jazz Richards, he's doing just fine for us. Emyr Huws too but different story!

Yeah, remember that Andy Legg, hardly put any effort in for us at all. We even went about our way booing him for the first 6 months of his time here.

Didn't someone send Bowen a letter with a razorblade in it?

What about Ivor Allchurch ?
-
Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Calm down folks , I agree as a professional they should all put the same effort in regardless of their allegiances however I'm not convinced all do. However there are the exceptions , legg , Bowen, etc.
Huw's Boeing a classic example of someone who just doesn't fancy it here.
-
Re: City favourites to sign Marley Watkins from Barnsley.
Was he one of the stand outs in their much-talked-about midfield? I haven't really been paying much attention to Barsnley, didn't that midfield already get broken up?

The difference is of course, Watkins is an actual Swansea fan, not just an ex player like Bowen and Leggy. There's a difference.
