Where are they now city legends
It would be nice to have a weekly where are they now, a lot of , older , fans probably have some great stories .
I have one about an old keeper of ours "Bill" Irwin, Northern Irish boy , left us to go play in America for Washington and then onto Dallas , I was told by another city legend Gary Bell that Bill found love down in oil rich Texas and has married very, very well , he is currently working as director of soccer at the University of Portland , and as head coach of the United States women's under-23 side.
Not a big name in our football world ,decent keeper ,played 180 times for us in a Severn year period looks like he has has exceeded himself in the States.

Re: Where are they now city legends
Bill Irwin - one of my favourite City keepers. Pleased to see that he appears to have done well.

Re: Where are they now city legends
Remember that save against Leeds when they beat us 0-2.Great keeper.

Re: Where are they now city legends
Not City related, but I heard 5. Ian Rush can often be found inside the broom cupboard of a Cardiff restaurant reminiscing about days gone by.

Re: Where are they now city legends
If i rrmember correctly, we had the choice of two great keepers at the time, he and Ron Healey?

I saw Chris Barker yesterday coming out of a gym in pontprennau. He has not aged at all, and is currently player Manager for Weston - super- mare. Never seen hairy legs like that since:ayatollah:

A particularly witty ditty was -
Arry Roberts is so great, is so great, is so great.
Arry Roberts is so great cos he kills coppers.

Re: Where are they now city legends
Another from those days.
Brian has the ball at his feet again
Puts it out to Barrie on the wing
Barrie puts it over onto Toshack's head
And the Grange End roars as Toshack puts it in !
Oh City , Oh City you have scored
La La City you have scored !
( Obladi Oblada , The Beatles ).

It was in the back pages of our Boy Scout song book - to be used only when all responsible adults had gone to their tents!
Shocking depravity!
I was 12 when I left the scouts in protest at having to sing about God and Queen at the start of every scout night, so the Dinah song was sung before then.
The version we had went 'a yard above the knee', but thinking about it more than is healthy, that would have made Dinah 12' tall!

Didn't he take over from Jim Eadie? I liked them both but Irwin was always safe, from what I recall.
Replaced by Ron Healy was he?

Incredible game , In the back of my mind I was told that Frank was a hairdresser before finding fame as a City player ? in this notorious performance weren't we 3-1 up at some point of the game ,my memory is fading along with my other parts .

We were indeed three one up AND Irwin saved a Boro penalty at that stage too.
