......Paterson was our leading goal scorer last season. After just four games this term, he is again our leading scorer (including getting the first League goal conceded at Anfield since February). He also has shown the sort of belligerent attitude we need - unlike some of his team mates.
So, why didn't Warnock play him from Day One?
Tbf there were lots slating his ability at the start of this season.
He's got a bizarre knack of being in the right place at the right time. Two of his goals have come as a result of deflections that fell straight into his path. The other goal was a bit of a mishit scuff as well. May he keep being our fox in the box!

Patterson is simply your old fashioned British footballer, no deft skills but enough ability to get buy, I watched him today and noticed he usually finds a player, his desire to win is second to none,thank god we have him ,hell'va of a signing
Paterson is one of the most intelligent football players we have in the team. If you watch him in matches he's continually making life difficult for the defenders and knows where he needs to be to take advantage of a situation.
This is a skill that can't be taught, and allying that to power, strength, speed and bloody-mindedness means he is probably of most value to us in attack, where his lack of a real finesse with his ball skills is not as important as his determination to get anything he can on a ball. I think that was best illustrated in his shot at the end which just went wide. I didn't think he'd be able to get it away

He knows where the goal is and can finish.
He may not be the finished article, and he may struggle against sides with a bit more quality than BHA, but he is the best we have when asked to do a certain job.
