Off to Las Vegas next Tuesday for four nights, staying in the Luxor, stag trip of mixed ages, around 20 going.
All enjoy a drink, some a gamble, no nutters but a playful bunch!
Tips for dos and don'ts gratefully received.
Warm regards,
Fatty
Obviously been quite a long while then. :hehe:
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
The hoover dam tour is a great morning or afternoon out, well worth it
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon.
Personally I hated Vegas, but if you do gamble in the casinos scantily clas ladies bring you free drinks.
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Don't get really drunk and kill a hooker.
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
High Roller Rollercoaster at the top of the stratosphere hotel would be a safe bet after a few shandies

Stayed at the Luxor about 20 years ago when it was a novelty; walked down there again last month to see what had changed and I reckon it will do fine for your stag do - a total cattle market now. Two very large annexes have been added to cram more people in so if you want to stay in the pyramid itself, make sure that's what you got. I guess all check-ins happen in the pyramid, though, as the queues were massive in mid-afternoon. Best advice is to change it if you can for something a bit further north on the strip; it looks close on google map but those blocks are mighty long! Luxor and MGM are south of the tacky end of the strip.
If you want to see any kind of a show then look at what's on offer now and buy online in advance - you'll save a wad over buying the day you want to go. Otherwise - buy from one of the discount booths like http://www.tix4tonight.com/ where prices are better; they sell for shows, meals etc for tonight and tomorrow only.
The Cirque de Soleil show we saw (there are maybe half a dozen showing at the moment) was well worth it; I think we paid about $80 each for good seats.
Final thought, you can spend a lot of time looking for somewhere decent to eat without spending a lot. Recommend the Grand Luxe Cafe at the Venetian or the Grand Palazzo which is adjacent. The surroundings are great, the food excellent and you won't come out feeling you've been robbed - and they have Stella and other Euro beers on tap as well! Enjoy
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Try the Double Down. Famous Vegas dive bar. The doors never close.
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Get a great breakfast off the strip here https://www.tripadvisor.ie/Restauran...as_Nevada.html & get to see the other side of Vegas.

Worst place on this planet.

Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Get in taxis and ask for downtown (the old vegas). 15 mins in a car
Go to the below restaurant and tell them who the stag is:

It is quality and one of the most memorable things we did. You can drink in there as well. We ordered gin and it came as a medical drip. You weigh yourself before going in and after.
Old vegas is good as well. We went in a strip club and I swear it was a comedy club. It was as if they'd picked out the most battle weary dancers on the planet

Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
I should you say weighing yourself isn't forced..... if theres anyone not excited about that. It is just a giant weighscales out front
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas

Not sure why you would expect anything else. It is a place created on blood money. Strippers, drugs and gambling are its main industries :hehe:
BTW that heart attack grill I linked, its entire brand is glorifying the fact it is tacky
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
Yea went there on a stag do. It's just awful, false manufactured tack everywhere, epitomises everything about America really. Sheer greed and tackiness:biggrin:

the funny thing is though, you can go for a few days and do none of the above and still have a great time
Re: Non-Football: Las Vegas
I personally enjoyed my weekend trips to Blackpool, so this'll be right up my street!
Not expecting anything other than tacky on a grand scale, which will do the trick for us

I didn't know (though I should have suspected) you were an expert on America. Tell me more. Where else have you been?

Not for me either . Had a few days there last summer, left early even although we had paid in full.
It may be an age thing, I have been previously and stayed up all night gambling (sensibly)
If you like the smell of smoke masked with perfume , you will love it.
