No, best demolish it and build some flats.
That'll get the tourists in.

Talking about tourists, why don't they turn the houses of parliament into a tourist attraction, and build a new one in Rochdale or somewhere, it would be Win-Win

Good riposte. Must say that the Cwmbranistanian often leaves plenty of net on view for those with an eye for goal.

This. Build it in Birmingham, and convert it into a tourist attraction.
Everyone wins.
But of course they would never even consider that. The country ends at the M25 for far too many in politics.
Re: 4 billion to refurbish Parliament
Someone has just pointed out that the 4bn this is expected to cost (,and we all know that will only go in one direction) is roughly the same as the Tories have spent on affordable housing in the last 5 years.
Re: 4 billion to refurbish Parliament
Services slashed, pensions cut, yet no decreases in the amount of tax we have to pay, and now we have to fund this open ended project :hehe:

Wouldn't we then have to spend the 4 billion refurbishing it and whatever the new building costs?
Although I agree with your point. I've always thought the government should do their work outside of the major economical centres.

It would also reduce the cost to the taxpayer of second residences that MPs have to have.

I doubt it would cost as much to refurbish as a tourist attraction, a lot of the work needed is in ancillary buildings which would have no real tourist attraction anyway, so why not just pull them down and sell the land.
