Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39773375
Cardiff City have stepped up negotiations to keep defender Bruno Ecoule Manga at the club.
The Gabon international's contract ends this summer and is yet to sign a new deal with the Championship side.
BBC Wales Sport has learned that Manga has attracted interest from Turkish club Bursaspor.
There is now more optimism at the club that the 28-year-old may choose to remain in the Welsh capital despite being offered a deal on reduced terms.
Manga joined Cardiff from French club L'Orient in September 2014 for a fee of almost £5m.
Though he has had his fitness problems - including a bout of malaria - while at Cardiff, he has been a defensive mainstay.
It had been thought that after being asked to take a pay cut Manga would most likely choose to leave Cardiff.
Indeed Bluebirds' boss, Neil Warnock, admitted recently he already had a replacement lined up for Manga.
But after further talks in the last few days, there is now more optimism he will stay with negotiations set to continue this week.
If Manga remains, he would provide a major boost to manager Neil Warnock as he revamps his Championship squad for next season.
On Friday, Cardiff announced striker Kenneth Zahore had agreed a new deal with the Bluebirds to remain with the club until 2020.
Stalwart midfielder Peter Whittingham is still mulling over his options having also been asked to take a pay cut to stay.

Re: Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
I have thought for a while that there was a decent chance he could stay as no pre-contract has been signed with another club & his agent would not have bothered to meet us unless there was the potential for a deal to be done. There is no AFCON next season & if Manga remains with us & can stay fit then he could have a big influence on how we get on

He will go at sometime , thats for definite.
Manga and Bamba as centre backs , playing week in and out would be extremely interesting and a he'll if so pairing , or perhaps Manga sitting in front of the two , where Halford sometimes sits.
You can bet Morrisson is ready to drive Manga to the airport.

We should sign Chris Samba.

I have wondered about whether Manga could play in that position in front of the 2 defensive centre halves. Because Manga is always liable to make an error of judgment in a dangerous place, as he likes to intercept (and is usually very good at it) that would seem a sensible move, and he is very good at bringing the ball out from the back.
When Warnock has played with such a position this season (twice) Bamba was great against Bristol City at home, and poor in a recent away game (Wolves?).So the formation is one Warnock does use.
I would love to see him stay. However, Morrison is a very effective centre half in the Championship.

Re: Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
If he stays then we'll have some serious competition at centre half.
Also, if he plays well then we might get a decent fee for him if we don't go up next year.
That will help with our parachute money running out end of next season

Re: Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
Hope this is true.It would be a feather in the cap for NW and show that City must be a pretty good place for a player to be at at this moment in time. What with Ken signing it indicates that we are not standing still but taking positive action early. Onward and upward.

Personally I'd like to see how he could handle pairing with Gunnars as Zohore is capable of acting as a sole 9 with Ralls as the 10.
Probably wouldn't work but he does carry the ball well.

Ralls is not and will never be a 10

Ralls cannot play at 10. He's a hard worker but he's got a very limited range of passing. He's a solid box to box player with loads of energy but he's not a ten!

One of the better players on our books.
I can see why a fan of Slades hoof ball wouldn't enjoy watching a player keeping it on the deck and finding a teammate with his passes.

Re: Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
If the headline is that he is staying that's a good thing. Problem is that an article like this surely means he is leaving

Re: Cardiff City optimistic Bruno Mangar could stay with the club
Not surprised at these headlines, nor the timing.
If a battle for his signature ensues, we have a chance of recuperating some money.

Not sure how we would recoup any money. He is a free agent at the end of June so the only one to benefit from a battle for his signature would be him and, perhaps, his agent. Now if he were to sign a new contract that would be different.

So?
Wasn't he also in the first Ghostbusters film? But that doesn't connect him to football or Cardiff City.

I don't remember Bill Murray saying anything about Manga in Ghostbusters. I think you're confusing him with Winstone Zeddermore.
