Re: US Election - Trump Ahead Currently
The appalling outcome of an an appalling 'choice'.
Clown is making a speech lacking in decorum right now. But generally sticking to saying the right things ..
Reality TV's biggest show so far. Resulting in ripping up Health Care , ripping up environmental reform.
This is the man whose aides had to remove his own Twitter account two days ago because he couldn't be trusted with it.
At least we don't have Hilary...
What a momentous occasion.

Today is the day Trump's life changed for good and his aides will be doing a lot more housekeeping for him.
No longer can he shoot from the hip without worrying of the consequences.
Not sure he is comfortable with that.
Once all the hype dies down (in about 2 months!) it'll be same old same old and similar scaremongering when Reagan came to power was largely unfounded.
As has been said, Hilary was the alternative!

There was such an air of inevitability about this. Screw the polls and analysts prediction, you can just feel that it was going to happen
100% agree with everything you've said in this thread.

So, we have yet another election where it appears that people who voted for the winning side were, apparently, too embarrassed to admit doing so - says it all really.
What do you mean by 'says it all really' ?

Such bad form!
It was a bitter dogfight but her entourage should have at least drafted up a few sentences for her to recite.
Too blinkered and arrogant.
Bye and good riddance!

Unlike Hillary who was instrumental in starting the wars in Libya, Ukraine and Syria during her time as Secretary as State. Putin has congratulated Trump; just think- we could be entering a new era of peace and cooperation between the two nuclear megapowers.

Misogynistic, racist, islamophobist, unaccepting of gender equality, sexuality... he has never been poor is his entire life, what does he know about the hard working American?
His whole campaign was about slagging everyone off that he disliked, including saying Mexicans are rapists. For **** sake, to vote for that moron you have to have the IQ of dead hamster. But then I remember Trump likes all Americans to have a gun in their house because it keeps them safe and lots of rednecks have 50 of them each. Oh and that wall? Great idea. Polar ice caps melting aka global warming - doesn't exist.

Just to clarify, my post was a swipe at Clinton and not an endorsement of Trump!

Re: US Election - Trump Wins
First Brexit, now Trump. Signs that people can rise above media brainwashing and accepted (and dangerous) ultra left garbage.
The sooner we can do away with ultra left lunatics, as well as far right, the safer/better the world will be.
Centre, left of centre, right of centre = great.

I would like that to be true but I think Saunders would have faced a massive task to beat Trump. He may have got the Democratic Party machine behind him but the wealth and power of corporate America would have been out to sink him. That combined with the right-wing populism of Trump and his supporters, and the kind of propaganda attack that would have been unleashed (it would have been 'Commie Bernie' instead of 'Crooked Hillary') would be too much. I think a Saunders victory would be possible with longer preparation, but not on the basis of out protesting the other candidate at this point in US history.
Fear and hate seem to be stronger now than hope and love. Depressing times.

I don't think the world media could have been any more pro-Clint, anti-Trump. Therefore, Bernie still would not have stood a chance.

In his defence, he started out with nothing apart from a million dollar loan from his dad.
A real rags to riches story that gives hope to all of us.
If you work hard and want something badly enough then you can do anything in this life.
Trump is like our very own *****.

I think that one of the reasons that Trump won, and similarly with brexit, is because people are fed up of main stream news and political establishment. Plus Clinton is disliked intensely. This is why I think Sanders would have stood a better chance than Clinton
