Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
We can win this! Arsenal are getting sloppy and we are finishing stronger.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
Sit back down Ken :hehe:
Smashing header Ward.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
That was a very pleasing performance but we were undone by their expensive talent. Proud of the lads, especially Ward and Bennett who both had their best games in a City shirt.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
That was amazing. That was a performance to be proud of. Some nerves and silly mistakes at the back but even Manga looked better going forward! We were standing off them in our own penalty box. Apart from that, that was beautiful to watch. Team gave it their all.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
I love this team, everyone put in a shift today. Effort levels were up there with the best I have seen from any team and that is all that can be asked really.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
Good spirit. We’re going to be ok at home I think based on our tempo today. Sol unfortunately found out a couple of times today and Hoilett feels a little bit exposed as well at this level
I’m most impressed that we got on the front foot and frequently had 3 or 4 players pressing in the final 3rd. Better attacking performance
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
Ward offers so much more grunt than Zohore. Has to start every game.
Sol is not good enough.
Much better against a good side.
Proud city fan.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v ARSENAL. Match thread
Well done all the fans at the game,
It sounded brilliant.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Yeh seriously well done to all, that noise was something special. And I have no doubt it helped.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Match report: https://behindthegoal16.wordpress.co...irst-3-points/
Even though we didn't win anything from the game, that performance was much more promising. Fans were excellent.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Okay, zero points but an excellent game to watch and Warnock will be pleased with what he saw out there today.
He will have learned much about the players and the players will have learned much about themselves.
We can compete at this level.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
That miss of Morrisons at Huddersfield was massive.
If he had scored that one he would have probably scored again today and would have
the confidence to boss at the back.
We need him at his best.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Sloppy defending cost us today. We seem afraid to play the tough tackling game we did last year.

Since Wolves at home?
+ 2 goals and several players are now making the step up well
- we look more likely to concede from their set-pieces than score our own
To work on: kill the game for 5-15 minutes. 76 minutes onwards was an awful lot of football when facing such quality attackers and our players must be covering more yards than most trying to close space and win back the ball throughout the game already.

Do you find it impossible to ever say anything positive about the team you say you support ?. How you can criticise anyone in that team today is ridiculous. They gave 100% and deserved at least a point. You spent most of last season moaning about our style of play as well, so its a bit rich stating we should play more like last year. We are trying to play fast attacking football. Get yourself a bigger tv screen and you might get a better view.

Great performance and confidence lifting, can compete with anyone at home

True though isn’t it? There was sloppy defending. We did miss some good chances as well. Played well but there were negatives.
I think NYC’s mistake was not to put something like “blue and proud” or “hell of an effort” or “the bluebirds played some kick ass soccer ball” at some point in his message.
Positive positive positive

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Watched the game in Dubrovnik, we gave it a good go. Arsenal were shocking at the back but so were we. Draw probably fair result but our lack of quality up front compared to Arsenal’s proved decisive. We need some points from our next 2 games but just can’t see it.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
Morrison and Bamba awful imo other 9 were brilliant

Difference between £80million+ and £10million+ really

Mixed feelings after that game:
Pros:
Absolutely delighted we competed and gave Arsenal a scare
Pissed off we didn't get at least one point from that game -wasn't expecting that beforehand so I'm treating it as a pro.
Camarasa looks the real deal, and Ward played superbly too
The team as a whole will have gained massive confidence that they can compete at this level against the very best
The crowd were really supportive and appreciative of the efforts that went in from the players. Brilliant to hear it in full flow :-)
Cons:
We were so 'in the game' that I'm really pissed off that we got nothing out of it. It'll take a while for the adrenaline to subside...
For the first time this season I'm going to be critical of NW - he needed to make changes before Arsenal scored their 3rd. We should have been able to see out the game from where we were. Around 70 minutes Ward obviously ran out of energy chasing a ball almost directly in front of Warnock and Hoillet was also clearly knackered. We were 2-2 and had a real chance of getting something out of this game but needed to match Arsenal's fresh legs to compete in midfield. He had to be looking to give fresh impetus around 60 minutes I think. We'd conceded the midfield to Arsenal at this point.
There were 4 good chances to score that simply had to be got on target if nothing else - if we don't learn to make the keeper work from those sort of chances then we're in trouble this season.
Morrison looked really nervous early on - that corner he conceded was really worrying. We need him to believe in himself and not to settle for 'nearly' good enough.
We need a really nasty and tight defence to survive this year. Balance still to be found I think as we were bullied out of things in our penalty area too often for the first time I can remember in some years.
Overall:
A really positive game for us which shows we have what we need to compete in this League. That's the one match the team are allowed to lose but be positive though. We can't become plucky losers and I trust NW and his team won't allow them to become satisfied at this level of performance.

What’s up with Morrison's heading? Two sitters in two games he’s missed.

Agree with virtually everything said.
Bam a and Morrison need to learn quickly from that game.
We now have Chelsea and Man City, who will both score a hatful if we defend like we did today.
Bennet excellent and Danny Ward proving a front three without Ken has much more flexibility and pace.

It amazes me you can have a go at Morrison but make no mention of Sol who was directly at fault for two of the goals. A better defender and we would have had at least a point from that game.

I've read it again and I haven't intended to have a 'go' at Morrison though can see how you have interpreted it that way. It was more an observation that he can't be nervous if we're to compete.
I think our defence have had better days but it's not all down to Bamba or Morrison if we concede.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 3 ARSENAL. Match thread
If we cant defend better than that the we have a real problem. Bamba was switched off for the first and sean has to do a lot better for the second?
