I don't know if I'm being overly harsh, but it's an OK goal, not worthy of the creaming in this thread though.

However he looks slow off the mark, both physically and mentally. If he was a stone lighter and a second faster, he would be a top striker.

The problem is - he has never showed signs of that before, or much else - so maybe it's his attitude that needs tweaking rather than his football skills
Perhaps it was Vincent Tan's 'shoot on sight' advice that tweaked a few attitudes last night. What other explanation?

I'm not undermining the goal, but does anybody else think the keeper should have done better?

^ This, the keeper should be dealing with that better. Very good technique but nothing out of the ordinary for a professional footballer to achieve given the time and space he's got.
I did mention I thought the keeper was caught out by it as well.

It is a good finish dont get me wrong, but i'm not getting overly excited about it. Gunnarson's goal last week was better IMO.
If he didn't mean it, what do you think he was going for?
Re: Machedas goal is something else
Wow, that is seriously top drawer stuff. Incredible technique, can see me watching that goal a fair few times. I bet that stopped the Chuckle Brothers chuckling http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Remember that time you took on 9 players and flicked the ball over you head before volleying in the top corner to win the match?

Have you actually watched Gunnarsons goal bounce of his shins and his thighs of a ploughed field?
Nobody would disobey Spudheads directive that skill has no place in his teams
Re: Machedas goal is something else
Volleying like that (over the shoulder) is a difficult skill. Admittedly there was no-one pressuring him but to find the corner with the pace and to keep it that low is a class finish.
Re: Machedas goal is something else
It wouldn't have counted - the ball can't go over board height. Rules is rules.
